Interstate Tire & Rubber Co. has announced third quarter results reportedly showing double digit growth “across all markets.” According to the company’s official statement on the matter, the business performed strongly in “Europe, CIS states and Asia.”
ECI International, the owner and organiser of Brityrex International 2012, is sponsoring the new TAFF Tyre Centre of the Year Award at the NTDA Dinner in Birmingham next week (20 October). As a new category in the NTDA’s popular TAFF Awards, the Tyre Centre of the Year has proved extremely popular, with 30 member companies nominated. Brityrex International 2012, the UK’s premier tyre trade and aftermarket equipment show, has switched to a new venue for its next staging in Manchester from 9-11 October 2012. Following discussions with sponsors and exhibitors, show organiser ECI International has confirmed that next October’s exhibition will be held at EventCity, close to the Trafford Centre.
Omni United has introduced its new Radar-brand ultra high performance tyre, the Verenti R6 All-Season. The tyre will be M&S rated and is now available in sizes: 205/50R17, 215/50R17, 225/50R17, 235/45R17, and 225/40R18. Omni says the Verenti size expansion will continue throughout the rest of the year with the most popular OE and aftermarket sizes in the 17 to 20-inch wheel diameters.
The Radar tyre brand, alongside exclusive UK distributor Universal Tyres & Spares, has launched Mobilizing Hope in the UK following the breast cancer research fund raising initiative’s US launch in May. A brand belonging to Omni United, the Singapore-based tyre designer and marketer, Radar has committed a minimum annual donation of $250,000 to the BCRF, with the goal of raising $1 million over the next 12 months. The brand will donate $1 for each set of Radar tyres purchased by its distributors and tyre wholesalers. In addition to this incentive, Radar encourages dealers and wholesalers to establish matching donation programs; telling customers about Mobilizing Hope; displaying and distributing Mobilizing Hope marketing materials; and becoming Facebook friends of Radar Tyres and the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. All of the brand’s tyres will have distinct labelling identifying the product as supportive of The Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
It is now almost a year since Singapore-based distributor Stamford Tyre International launched its Firenza high performance asymmetric pattern tyres, adding it to the well-established directional ST-08, which continues to be available. Since its introduction, Stamford states that the Firenza ST-05A pattern has become an increasingly popular choice for drivers looking for a stylish looking tyre offering improved safety and comfort at high speed.
European tyre retail franchise point S, which only entered the UK market last year, already has 90 branch members. This development will enable the European management achieve better forecasting and make the target of 100 service centres in the UK the firm announced at Reifen Essen and Brityrex last year a reality. "Our partner network in the UK is on its way to becoming the third largest national organization in the point S to develop Europe," said Jürgen Benz, director of European point S and point S Germany.
Chinese tyre manufacturers Techking has announced that its Effiplus passenger car tyres recently received Nom accreditation (the national Mexican Safety Certificate).
The National Tyre Distributors Association (NTDA) is to sponsor the next staging of Brityrex International in 2012 after reaching an agreement with the show’s organisers, ECI International. The association has been a long-term supporter of the UK’s only dedicated tyre and workshop equipment trade show and believes it plays an important part in the industry’s business calendar.
Marix UK, the sole Marix tyre wholesaler in the UK keeps a stockholding of over 5000 tyres at any given time and offers what the company calls “full backup with a technical helpline.”
Marix tyres come with a five-year manufacturer’s warranty, with company representatives explaining that retreading “represents the best way to help the environment and at the same time save money, so much so that the process is actively supported by the EU.”
KRT has been marketing and distributing tyres for the past four decades having become one of the largest independent tyre distributors in the UK and Ireland. According to the company, 4×4/SUV tyres are a “very important part” of their growing business, which became a new focus when the company added the Cooper range of Light Truck, 4×4 and SUV tyres to their line up 10 years ago. During this time the Cooper brand name has reportedly grown dramatically. And the range of fitments and patterns in the Cooper portfolio enables KRT to cover “the majority of every requirement.”
Supertracker has told Tyres & Accessories that it has experienced “a very successful twelve months during 2010”, in which it continued “an ongoing and upward trend year-on-year since 1987” when the company was formed. The company said its presence at a number of trade shows was a contributing factor in this, including an appearance at Brityrex 2010. When asked if fully-integrated machines were seeing a rise in interest, Supertracker representatives told T&A that while the company was not seeing increases in sales of these units, “it would be true to say they form a part of Supertracker's sales”. The company then pointed to its new product releases, including the launch of the STR410 and a Steering Angle Reset Tool.

Hofmann Megaplan has given away one of its megamount Smart lever-less tyre changers to Mill Tyres of Boston, Lincolnshire, the latter having won the company’s Brityrex 2010 prize-draw. The Smart can handle rims up to 30” in diameter, and is specifically targeted at “tough rim and tyre combinations”, including runflats, according to Hofmann Megaplan.
