Brityrex 2007 Hugely Successful – Hofmann Megaplan

Wheel & tyre equipment specialists Hofmann Megaplan enjoyed another successful show at this years Brityrex exhibition. The company believes this year’s event to be every bit as good as the 2005 exhibition, which Managing Director James Boon labelled at the time as the best show he had ever attended. “Brityrex 2005 was a hard act to follow for us, but the move to Manchester this year and all the improvements that went with it means that without doubt 2007 will prove to be even better both in terms of immediate sales and long term projects,” commented Mr. Boon.

“I think it’s a huge disappointment that this show doesn’t get more support from the tyre manufacturers, and the effort put in by everybody else really and truthfully puts them to shame for not supporting such an event. That said, the quality of visitor and atmosphere of the new venue ensured we had another great exhibition, and I think the organisers deserve some real praise for putting on a fantastic, well organised and high profile exhibition despite two years of negativity from many within the industry”.

In recent times the name Beissbarth has become all but synonymous with their new Touchless wheel alignment system, and if the company’s presence at Brityrex was anything to go by, they don’t mind this at all. The aligner, often referred to using the words ‘revolutionary’ and ‘breakthrough’, took centre stage at the Beissbarth stand.

“This is the biggest advance in wheel aligner technology that I have ever witnessed in more than 30 years in the industry,” said Beissbarth UK managing director Philip Hodges. “Aside from pinpoint accuracy, there are enormous time savings per vehicle on the current process, which will build both capacity and turnover in all busy workshops.”

The Touchless system, previously reported by Tyres & Accessories on several occasions, is touted by Beissbarth to offer the fastest wheel alignment ever. The non-contact aligner will, they say, save up to 20 minutes on preparation time per vehicle. “There’s no wheel clamps to mess about with,” a Beissbarth representative commented to Tyres & Accessories. “The vehicle is just driven into position and the results can be seen on screen in seconds.”

Heading from Strength to Strength

Following its purchase by the TYM Group in 2004, TYM International has had a remarkably successful three years, with year on year growth forcing the company to seek new and larger freehold premises in Kings Lynn at the start of 2007. Although under new ownership TYM continued their longstanding relationship with Slovakian tyremaker Matador, and today have supplied the brand to UK wholesalers for more than a decade. It is largely thanks to TYM, in addition to the manufacturer’s links with Germany’s Continental, that Matador has left behind its former image as a budget brand in the UK.

In the last three or so years TYM has added two more key brands to their portfolio, with the company commencing the supply of Triangle Tyres products in 2004, an arrangement further cemented by the signing of a three-year deal in September 2006. “Triangle is a great product with a superb range in passenger, Truck and Earthmover,” commented TYM International general manager Steve Eke. “This complete product range has fitted well into the portfolio of our company.” A further feather in the company’s cap came at the end of 2004 when TYM was appointed as a UK importer of products manufactured by Taiwan-based Kenda Tire.

New Date for Brityrex as Show Returns in 2009

Positive feedback from May’s Brityrex International exhibition at Manchester’s G-MEX Centre has been followed by confirmation that the UK’s only dedicated tyre show will return to the same venue in 2009. Although Manchester will again act as host city, the show has been rescheduled to a new slot in September, to avoid a crowded exhibition programme that includes two other major aftermarket trade shows in April and May.

“We’re delighted with the overall feedback we’ve received from exhibitors and visitors and believe that we can continue to develop the show further in two years time. Part of that development includes moving to a new slot in September, which we believe will benefit exhibitors and visitors by avoiding clashes with other exhibitions,” said Paul Farrant, managing director of show organiser ECI International.

Paul continued: “The new venue worked well, exhibitors made real efforts to present themselves very professionally and we were pleased that visitor numbers increased compared to the last exhibition in Harrogate, two years ago.”

Take the Strain out of Moving Tyres with Mace

The days when employees could put their back into a job are long gone, and workplace safety regulations have instead resulted in companies fearing employees putting their backs out. Demonstrating the merits of the Uni-Loada at Brityrex, Tony Mace and his colleagues loaded the unit with large quantities of tyres to show how easily the Uni-Loada could shift them upstairs. The Uni-Loada’s 13 amp two-speed electric drum motor, which can move the conveyor belt at between 20 and 26 metres a minute, made light work of the tyres. In fact if required the Uni-Loada can move up to 1200 items in a single hour.

NTDA Joins Right to Repair Strategy Group

Following on from the Right to Repair Seminar organised by the NTDA at Brityrex in Manchester earlier this month, the NTDA have been invited to join the powerful R2RC Strategy Group which will run the UK end of the Europe wide campaign. The Strategy Group is made up of representatives from the SMMT Aftermarket Section, the Automotive Distributive Federation and the Independent Garage section of the Retail Motor Industry Federation and other members of the Automotive Aftermarket Liaison Group

The main task of the group will be to manage the UK end of the campaign which will include lobbying of MPs in Westminster and MEP’ in Brussels.

Representing the NTDA will be the newly elected Vice Chairman of the NTDA David White of Kwik-fit who commented: “This issue is one of the most challenging for our sector and I look forward to representing the Tyre and Fast fit interests within this group which has a lot of work to do over the next few years”.

JIA Sources to Show Key Innovations at Brityrex International ’07

Innovative new products for tyre pressure management, nitrogen inflation and ‘touchless’ wheel alignment will be the focus for visitors to the JIA Sources International stand at Brityrex’07. The company’s new Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) makes its UK debut, offering simple-to-use retrofit applications for car, truck and towed vehicles like caravans and trailers.

Nitro-Ride nitrogen inflation systems is another area of business that will benefit from the launch of a new product, with a fully automated system being presented to trade and end user buyers.

NTDA Dinner at Brityrex – Bigger than Ever

Attendance at the NTDA/TAFF Awards dinner is reaching record levels with over 400 members and guests already booked to attend. Revenues and Profits Up – SRT

Sibur-Russian Tyres report that during 2006 the company increased their consolidated revenues by 17 per cent to 21.1 billion roubles (£409 million), up from 18 billion roubles (£349 million) a year earlier.

The tyremaker’s pre-tax net profit (EBIT) reached 486 million roubles (£9.4 million), starkly contrasting with its 498 million rouble (£9.7 million) loss in 2005. This positive trend has been attributed to the company’s large-scale restructuring and modernisation, as well as product portfolio optimisation and price increases.

Pro-Align is to feature in the next Harvie Prema product catalogue, as a new ‘supplier partner’. A selection of equipment, including the ‘World Leading’ Hunter wheel aligners, balancers, tyre changers, plus the Pro-Aligns range of alignment lifts, will be presented within the ‘Equipment Section’. Both Harvie Prema and Pro-Align see the involvement as a complimentary one, supporting both companies’ business activities and will go to enhance the service to their customers.

The ‘handshake’ took place during the recent Harvie Prema Sales meeting, held at Pro-Align’s purpose built premises in Towcester. During the meeting, Harvie Prema staff were given demonstrations of the Pro-Align equipment, seeing for themselves many of the cost saving and revenue generating features.
