Beginning in 2019, Bridgestone will act as title sponsor for the Senior Players Championship, the annual golf championship for players aged 50 and over on the PGA Tour Champions. The agreement announced by PGA Tour yesterday covers a four-year period through 2022, and when players head out onto the Firestone Country Club’s South Course between 8-14 July, they will be competing in the ‘Bridgestone Senior Players Championship’.
Bridgestone UK’s tyre division is embarking on a golf sponsorship that it says is “quite unique to the UK tyre industry.” The sponsorship includes a European Tour event partnership, the resurrection of a high-profile English tournament and a nationwide amateur competition that reaches up to 1,900 golf clubs.
Three amateur golfers are hoping to reduce their handicaps and transform their games after a round to remember with an emerging star of the European Tour. Bridgestone has announced its sponsorship of one of golf’s most exciting young talents in his breakthrough professional season. Oliver Farr is embarking on his debut year on the European Tour, competing with the likes of Rory McIlroy, Sergio Garcia and Ernie Els. He will sport Bridgestone’s tyre logo on his golf shirts and jumpers and feature on Bridgestone’s social networking channels, reporting from the Tour.
Bridgestone’s stand at the 2014 edition of the CV Show reflected the prevailing opinion that this year showed an upturn in attendance. The tyre manufacturer, exhibiting its Total Tyre Life, Total Tyre Services and Total Tyre Systems tyre management components, said it saw a 42 per cent increase in visitor numbers on the previous year’s event. Bridgestone said that it hoped to convert the additional exposure of its Total Tyre Care package into increased business.
