Brembo
Brake maker Brembo reports that its 2015 revenues grew 15 per cent to 2,073.2 million euros. Pre-tax profits were even stronger, with EBITDA at 359.9 million euros (+28.6 per cent) and the EBIT measurement up 40.8 per cent to 251.3 million euros. During the same period net profit grew 42.5 per cent to 184.0 million euros. Net investments totalled 154.1 million euros. And net debt amounted to 160.7 million euros.
Euro Car Parts is distributing the Brembo range of brake pads and discs, and as of 1 January it will stock a comprehensive line-up. Company chief executive officer Martin Gray says that every Euro Car Parts branch will offer “full vehicle parc coverage” for the Brembo range from next month.
Braking systems designer and manufacturer Brembo has presented a new family of aluminium calipers for high-end cars at the IAA show in Frankfurt. The new fixed caliper range, available in 17-inch (5.9 kilogrammes), 18-inch (7.7 kilogrammes) and 19-inch (8 kilogrammes) versions, is particularly aimed cars with a high braking disc surface. Such discs usually require generously-sized, but heavy calipers – however Brembo says its new caliper, which only recently went into production, combines a size optimised for discs with high braking surfaces with remarkable lightness.
Leading Italian brake brand, Brembo, has announced plans to invest 32 million euros in an aluminium brake caliper manufacturing facility in Escobedo, Nuevo Leon, just outside of Monterrey, Mexico. According to the company, the plant will include a new aluminium foundry and machining facility capable of producing two million calipers per year destined for the company’s customers in the NAFTA region. The foundry will have a melting capacity of 14,000 tons. The facility will cover 31,500 square metres and when fully operational is expected to generate an annual turnover of 100 million euros. The plant is expected to commence initial production in 2016 and be fully operational by the end of 2018.
Brembo celebrated the grand opening of its expanded North American manufacturing operations in Homer, Michigan on 22 May 2014. According to the company, the occasion marks Brembo’s commitment to North America. The investment, which will total more than $115 million dollars (83 million euros) through to the end of 2015, expands the facility that houses production of brake, disc, caliper and corner module manufacturing.
Brake manufacturer Brembo has reported very strong increases in first quarter revenues – up 20.2 per cent to 446.9 million euros; operating margins – EBITDA at 69.1 million euros (+46.1 per cent); and pre-tax profits – EBIT of 45.9 million euros, +75.6 per cent.
It’s been a double victory for the home team as Continental receives first place in two German magazine polls. The tyre maker says, as you may expect, that it is very pleased with the results of the AutoBild and Auto Zeitung reader surveys.
Brake manufacturer Brembo S.p.A. has posted positive results for 2013 despite an 11.2 per cent drop in net profit during the final quarter of the year. The company’s revenues grew 12.8 per cent to €1.6 billion in 2013 while EBITA rose 23.5 per cent to €212.1 million, with a margin of 13.5 per cent. EBIT increased 35.6 per cent to €121.4 million, with a margin of 7.8 per cent. Net profit rose 14.4 per cent year-on-year to €89.0 million in 2013.
Brembo has been recognised as the first Fiat-Chrysler sustainable supplier of the year. In 2009 the car company from Turin launched specific certification procedures for its supply chain in EMEA area.
Brembo has developed a 10-15 per cent lighter brake disc, designed to offer reduced fuel consumption and less environmental impact. The new light-weight brake disc, conceived by Daimler AG in partnership with Brembo, has reportedly allowed the company to launch a product with “absolutely innovative characteristics”.
Italian brake manufacturer Brembo SpA has acquired the 30 per cent share held in the Brembo Nanjing Brake Systems Co. Ltd joint-venture company held by Chinese partner Donghua Automotive Industrial Co. Ltd. The RMB 90 million (£9.4 million) paid for the share gives Brembo total ownership of the operation and is a transaction the company describes as “the last step towards the full integration of the hub.”
Leading European performance brakes brand Brembo is continuing to diversify its global strategy in a bid to tackle sales figures that continue to fall in much of its traditionally strong markets. In the first quarter of 2013, the German and, to a lesser extent based on the relatively good performance of its automotive manufacturing, UK markets were the only two to increase sales, while domestic Italian and southern Europe continued to look weak. However, growing sales in the USA and China are prompting global investment, such as the 115 million euro investment the manufacturer recently announced to expand its US and Brazilian operations. And the company has continued to indulge its penchant for spectacle, with involvement in top-level motorsport series, such as MotoGP and Formula One, and Hollywood blockbusters driving its continued premium brand marketing.
Leading brake manufacturer Brembo has posted first quarter 2013 net consolidated revenues of 371.9 million euros, up 6.3 per cent compared to the first quarter of the previous year. Pre-tax profits grew even faster. EBITDA amounted to 47.3 million euros (12.7 per cent of revenues), up 10.2 per cent compared to first quarter of previous year. Meanwhile EBIT amounted to 26.1 million euros (7 per cent of revenues), up 9.3 per cent compared to the first quarter of 2012.
While many markets in Europe continue to prove challenging for Italian brake manufacturer Brembo, Germany and the USA have continued to provide the company with enough growth opportunities to keep the company's revenues ahead of those at this stage in 2011. Overall, the company registered net profit up 59.8 per cent in the first three quarters (49 million euros), with sales up 10.5 per cent (1,045 million euros). Chairman Alberto Bombassei said he remained “convinced that the ability to innovate, along with a constant focus on quality, are the foundation of company’s success, even in a crisis scenario."
Brembo has made a significant change to its aftermarket marketing adopting a new packaging concept. The packaging includes the faces of employees, marking a departure from the all-red box, which for more than ten years has been the face of Brembo in the Aftermarket. The message the company says it is trying to promote is that “Brembo believes in its products, and is not shy about saying so.”
