DriveRight is promoting its database of CAD drawings and other brake caliper data for all the latest models and post-production vehicles. According to the company, the system, which is pitched at wheel manufacturers amongst others, covers “almost all vehicles”.

Brake maker Brembo reports that its 2015 revenues grew 15 per cent to 2,073.2 million euros. Pre-tax profits were even stronger, with EBITDA at 359.9 million euros (+28.6 per cent) and the EBIT measurement up 40.8 per cent to 251.3 million euros. During the same period net profit grew 42.5 per cent to 184.0 million euros. Net investments totalled 154.1 million euros. And net debt amounted to 160.7 million euros.
BMW’s E36 M3 is well on its way to classic status, meaning that owners will potentially want to upgrade components. Italian brake manufacturer Tarox now provides such a product, with front disc and pad sets for all models. The kits offer a direct replacement to the OEM parts, but with significantly improved performance and less tendency to fade, Tarox claims.
Continental has announced plans to start production of ABS and ESC units in India in 2016. A new assembly line for ABS and ESC for passenger cars and later ABS for two-wheelers will be located in the existing Continental Automotive Brake Systems plant in Gurgaon, Haryana. Local production of the Electronic Control Unit (ECU) is planned for 2018 in Bangalore.

Euro Car Parts is distributing the Brembo range of brake pads and discs, and as of 1 January it will stock a comprehensive line-up. Company chief executive officer Martin Gray says that every Euro Car Parts branch will offer “full vehicle parc coverage” for the Brembo range from next month.
UK high-specification brakes and clutch manufacturer Alcon has experienced a successful 2015 motorsport season to go alongside its significant supply deals with Peugeot and Supacat among others. In late November, Kyle Busch claiming victory in the Nascar Sprint Cup race at the Homestead-Miami Speedway, and with it becoming the 2015 champion. Busch brought his Alcon-equipped, Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR) Toyota home 1.5 seconds ahead of his nearest rival, to crown yet another successful year for the Tamworth-based manufacturer.

Brake Engineering is expanding production of its caliper remanufacturing line, following increased demand from customers in the automotive aftermarket embracing its “Original Aftermarket” approach to supplying a complete braking solution. The company has led the market in the production of calipers since 1981. With the efficiencies installed at its Wrexham-based facility, it is able to meet this increasing demand and continue to offer calipers of exceptional quality and increased complexity, while still remaining competitively priced.
Braking systems designer and manufacturer Brembo has presented a new family of aluminium calipers for high-end cars at the IAA show in Frankfurt. The new fixed caliper range, available in 17-inch (5.9 kilogrammes), 18-inch (7.7 kilogrammes) and 19-inch (8 kilogrammes) versions, is particularly aimed cars with a high braking disc surface. Such discs usually require generously-sized, but heavy calipers – however Brembo says its new caliper, which only recently went into production, combines a size optimised for discs with high braking surfaces with remarkable lightness.
Brake Engineering is building on its Original Aftermarket approach by adding a number of new products to its entire braking range, focusing not just on first to market parts, but on developing “aftermarket” ranges that are relevant to the vehicles in independent garages.
Brake Engineering is launching “Original Aftermarket”, an initiative the company says will redefine the supply and fit of braking products in the automotive aftermarket and bring transparency, clarity and quality to an overly complex product sector. Launching in October, the company will introduce a range of services designed to cut-through the trade’s misunderstandings of the braking sector and work to grow a distributor’s sales of the company’s complete range of calipers, discs, drums, hydraulics, pads and shoes.
