Besides being named after an untamed animal, Jaguar shares something else in common with the latest-generation Mustang – Borbet recently launched new rims suitable for both.
Besides being named after an untamed animal, Jaguar shares something else in common with the latest-generation Mustang – Borbet recently launched new rims suitable for both.
In addition to presenting numerous new products at the IAA motor ship, wheel manufacturer Borbet also shared details of three new future technologies.
Alloy wheel manufacturer Borbet has announced plans to expand its main factory in Hallenberg-Hesborn, Germany to accommodate an enlarged in-house toolmaking facility. A 1,130-square metre hall will be erected alongside the existing toolmaking centre; Borbet says the hall will be built by the end of September, and the entire project completed by the start of 2018 at the latest.
The new Borbet factory in Saxony, Germany is visible from afar – hardly surprising when bearing in mind that the plant’s floorspace sprawls over five entire hectares. The factory is located on a 12.3-hectare site near Görlitz, around four miles from the Polish border, and there is a good reason for building big: Saxony is an automotive stronghold, home to several major German vehicle manufacturers.
Time never stands still at Borbet, the wheel maker tells us. To back up this claim the manufacturer points to its new Borbet S wheel, which is produced using the innovative undercut technique. This manufacturing technique removes all non-load-bearing areas of the rim through precision milling, making the wheel more lightweight without sacrificing levels of stability. The material removed during machining is reused in an integrated recycling process, thereby ensuring the conservation of raw materials.
In order to remedy a capacity shortfall, alloy wheel manufacturer Borbet GmbH has decided to erect a new factory. After evaluating the suitability of several sites in Germany as well as locations in Poland, Hungary and Brazil, the company has decided upon Kodersdorf in the German state of Saxony as the host region for its new greenfield facility.
Wheel manufacturer Borbet has released a new alloy rim for SUV and off-road vehicles, the Borbet C2C. This new design expands the company’s “commercial wheels” category and features a ten-spoke design that is said to be minimalistic and sleek and also “tough as nails.” The C2C comes in a five-hole configuration and is available in sizes 7.5″ x 17″ and 8″ x 18″ and in crystal silver and black glossy finishes.
Alloy wheel manufacturer Borbet marked the start of Reifen 2014 last week with the launch of its new-look website. The www.borbet.de site offers both English and German language options, although at the time of writing some features are only available in German.
Messe Essen announced the Reifen 2014 award winners on the evening before the show opened, with Yokohama taking the coveted Innovation Award in the Technology and Products category. The Japanese manufacturer presented its process for the visual representation of the aerodynamic and acoustic rolling behaviour of tyres to the jury, using the Japanese space authority, JAXA’s supercomputer from space research to show that the noise level of a rolling car tyre also depends on flow structures in front of the tyre, which are subjected to a compression effect.
