Award winners at NFDA Autumn Ball

Garage Equipment Association members recently raised £2500 for BEN at their annual Charity Golf Day. The event, which has been running for over 20 years was set up to allow GEA members and non-members to network whilst raising money for charity.
David Main has retired as chief executive officer of BEN, and the non-profit organisation supporting those employed in the automotive industry has named Zara Ross his successor. Ross brings over 30 years of experience in the charity sector to her new role; most recently, she served as director of transformation and development at the St Monica Trust, a body that provides accommodation, care and support for older people in the south west of England.
The annual BEN cricket match, co-sponsored by FPS and Comma and supported by the IAAF, successfully took place Thursday 23 June at Dorridge Cricket club near Solihull, raising money for those in need within the independent aftermarket.
Autoparts UK has announced its sponsorship of the 2016 Independent Automotive Aftermarket Federation’s (IAAF) conference, held on 15 December at ICC Birmingham, and the IAAF Team Golf Challenge.
The inaugural Automechanika Birmingham exhibition, to be held at the NEC, will be supporting BEN, the automotive industry charity. The event organisers will provide BEN with stand space free of charge and will support the organisation’s fund raising and awareness-building efforts with additional related facilities throughout the show.
BEN, the automotive industry benevolence charity, is to close the Alexandra House care home in Southport. The closure is said to be due to the relative incompatibility of the building with the increasing frailty of residents and the infeasibility of improvements. The news was met with disappointment from sections of the tyre industry especially NTDA members in the North West, who have been particularly supportive of Alexandra House for decades. No decisions have yet been made about whether or not BEN will establise a replacement care home located in the North West or not.
The IAAF annual BEN Cricket Match, co-sponsored by FPS and Comma, has been announced and will take place on Thursday 23 June at Dorridge Cricket Club near Solihull, with hopes to raise as much money as possible for the automotive industry charity.
BCA Blackbushe will be staging a special sale on Friday, 30 October to raise money for automotive industry charity BEN. All the competing cars from the annual Car Dealer Bangers4BEN Rally will be offered and sold, with all the proceeds going directly to BEN. The sale is scheduled to commence at 13.15.
Telematics expert, Tracker (part of the Tantalum Corporation) is getting behind BEN’s annual fundraising car rally Bangers4BEN for the very first time. To celebrate its support, Tracker is fitting complimentary battery-operated fleet telematics units to every car taking part. Friends, family and rival competitors will be able to keep track of the progress of participating teams here.
The Independent Garage Association (IGA) will be taking part in this year’s Bangers 4 BEN charity challenge in aid of BEN.
The event which kicks off on 10 -13 October will see Ian Ramsden and Terry Gibson driving the course of the UK, France, Germany and Belgium in an Audi A4 – donated by In Town Automotive in Northampton, which will then be auctioned off at the end of the event.
The IAAF has concluded its most popular summer golf day programme ever with one golfer achieving a hole in one. IAAF golf events at Worsley Park, Nr. Manchester and Forest of Arden, Meriden, Warwickshire were in support of industry charity BEN and more than 20 company teams took part.
The annual NTDA Zenises Golf Day completed a hat-trick of appearances at the world-class Brocket Hall venue in July. With 81 members out on the golf course and over 100 joining together for the evening’s dinner and entertainment, 2015 saw record numbers of participants for the NTDA Zenises Golf Day.
BEN, the automotive industry charity is extremely proud of their dedicated London to Paris 24 participants who cycled the 240 mile journey in less than 24 hours. So far, the team have raised over £25,500 for BEN with funds still coming in.
Automotive industry charity BEN will take part in the National Care Home Open Day on 19 June 2015. The idea behind the day is to encourage local people to visit care homes in their community and to work together to develop better relationships.
