In order to mark The Shortis Group’s 60th Anniversary, Banner Batteries marked the milestone by presenting managing director, Richard Shortis, with a gold cased battery emblazoned with commemorative labelling. Banner Group’s CEO, Andreas Bawart, took the time to visit Shortis and his team as part of a four-day visit to the UK. 18 months ago, Banner entered into a distribution agreement with The Shortis Group.
When it comes to automotive battery replacement, and against a backdrop of it no longer being a case of one-size fits all, ensuring the correct and optimum battery by vehicle type is used is of paramount importance. Why? Because perhaps the single most significant challenge facing suppliers of automotive batteries relates to incorrect use and the fitment of the wrong battery type, particularly when it comes to start-stop applications.

Banner batteries has appointed Matthew Evans as Business Development Manager (BDM) for the South West and Ireland. Reporting directly to country manager, Lee Quinney, Evans will be responsible for targeting Banner’s growing customer base of motor factors, garages, independent distributors and other specialist automotive parts outlets.

Battery brand Banner has unveiled a new marketing campaign for the impending battery season. “Power Beyond Ordinary” supersedes the “NO BULL Get Real” campaign that has been running for the last two years.
For battery brand Banner, highlight the quality and performance of products is key. And the fact that its products achieve original equipment (OE) standards is a central part of that. That’s why, as one of the founding members of the Original Equipment Suppliers Aftermarket Association (OESAA) and with Lee Quinney sitting on the advisory board, Banner reports that it is “committed and unequivocal about the importance of OE within the automotive aftermarket”.
Banner is introducing a new 50 Ah Running Bull AGM part number this summer as the starter battery compatible across a raft of models, such as the Suzuki Swift/Splash, Vauxhall Adam, Hyundai Kona and Kia Stonic. In what stands to be European aftermarket first for Banner, the Running Bull AGM 55001 part number is currently installed in the BWM i8 as a back-up battery, however – according to the company – that also makes it suitable as an upgrade for conventional back-up batteries in electric vehicles.
