Garage Hive has been named Garage Management System of the Year at the Independent Garage Association’s (IGA) British Independent Garage (BIG) Awards 2023.
The automotive community came together in a show of support at the Independent Garage Association (IGA) BIG Awards 2023, raising £10,000 for the automotive charity Ben to help the charity continue to provide vital support to the automotive sector.
The winners of the first-ever Women Automotive Awards, hosted by Women Automotive Network, were announced at a prestigious ceremony on 20th September. The awards, which took place following the record-breaking Women Automotive Summit at Forum am Schlosspark, Ludwigsburg, Germany, were contested by an esteemed list of automotive professionals, all of whom were nominated by their peers and recognised for their remarkable achievements and contributions within the automotive sector.
London-based specialist Electric Vehicle (EV) tyre technology company Enso has been named as one of the 15 global finalists for The Earthshot Prize, which was launched by Prince William in 2020.
TechMan has announced it will once again be a main partner of the Top Technician / Top Garage Awards for 2023. It will also be sponsoring the new Workplace Health and Wellbeing Award in association with the automotive industry charity, BEN. Now in its 21st year, Top Technician and Top Garage 2023 partners with the Garage Equipment Association (GEA), the Independent Automotive Aftermarket Federation (IAAF) and the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI), and along with TechMan, is also sponsored by Snap-on, TOPDON, Delphi Technologies, BookMyGarage, ALLDATA Europe, TP and Motul.
Steve Nash, CEO of the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) added to the The Motoring Hall of Fame in recognition of the important work he has carried out leading the professional body. The Motoring Hall of Fame, whose official partner is The British Motor Show, recognises individuals and businesses that have made a valuable contribution to the wider automotive industry, especially in improving safety and diversity and inspiring innovation. Steve Nash has been inducted alongside: Dr Andy Palmer, former CEO, Aston Martin and COO, Nissan; Linda Jackson CEO, Citreon 2014 – 2020 and CEO at Peugeot since 2021; and Vera Park ex-Infiniti/Nissan/Renault and now lead exterior designer, Jaguar Land Rover.
Mitsubishi Logisnext Americas (MLA) has named Continental as the winner of its prestigious “Vendor of the Year” award for the third consecutive year. The award recognizes “the outstanding commitment and operational support” demonstrated by Continental through MLA’s original equipment aftermarket program, Rapidparts, in the material handling sector.
The National Tyre Distributors Association has announced the finalists in the Tyre Industry Awards 2023. The association revealed that it has received a record number of entries for this edition of the UK tyre industry’s premier awards, which will be presented at the NTDA’s 94th Annual Dinner, sponsored by Maritime Cargo Services, at the DoubleTree by Hilton Milton Keynes on Thursday 19 October. The awards ceremony, sponsored by Sailun Tyres, will be hosted by television personality Jon Culshaw, with a capacity audience of 640 guests in attendance.
Household name and star of the stage and the screen, comedian Tom Allen, will be entertaining guests at the 2023 IAAF awards dinner being held on 7 December at DoubleTree Hilton, Milton Keynes. Allen is the host of The Apprentice: You’re Fired, co-host of Cooking With The Stars and is also a regular on Bake Off: An Extra Slice. In 2021 he became the co-host of Channel 4’s Complaints Welcome, and in 2022 he hosted brand-new Dave series The Island.
Isuzu Motors Co. (Thailand) Ltd. (IMCT) recently awarded Yokohama Tire Sales (Thailand) Co. Ltd. (YTST) and Yokohama Rubber (Thailand) Co. Ltd. (YRTC), which manufactures and sells hoses, its “IMCT QD Score 100 Points 3Y” award. The Isuzu Motors Limited subsidiary presented the award at a ceremony held by IMCT on 31 May.
Automechanika Birmingham culminated in the prize of third-place for customer engagement for Maverick Diagnostics.
Three of Hankook’s flagship tyres have been recommended in consumer motor magazine Auto Express’s Product of the Year Awards. The all-season Kinergy 4S 2 won the all-season tyre category, following its tyre test victories in 2022 and 2021.Hankook’s Ventus S1 evo 3 SUV tyre and new Winter i*cept RS3 also received the magazine’s “Commended” rating in other categories. “Once again, we are delighted with these Product of the Year awards from Auto Express and this proves that Hankook tyres are a great choice for our UK customers all year round. Hankook is committed to ongoing investment in research and development to continue improving our portfolio of products and their performance,” comments Chang Yool Han, managing director of Hankook Tyre UK.
Toyo’s Proxes Sport 2 ultra-high performance tyre has been presented with a Red Dot Design Award in the 2023 competition. The Proxes Sport 2 was launched in 2022, engineered using nano technology for the high torque of performance vehicles. The tyre gained recognition from Auto Bild Sportscars, awarded a “Good” recommendation in its product testing. Toyo says the Red Dot design award underlines its product design “excellence”.
LKQ Euro Car Parts will be the headline sponsor of the first Automechanika Birmingham Garage Awards, hosted by the Independent Automotive Aftermarket Federation (IAAF). Celebrating outstanding achievements across the garage sector as well as the federation’s lobbying activity, the awards will be held on the evening of Wednesday 7 June at Hilton Metropole NEC. The event coincides with the automotive aftermarket trade exhibition, Automechanika Birmingham, where LKQ Euro Car Parts promises “an eye-catching display”. Autogem is urging thousands of automotive technicians from across the UK to enter Autogem’s competition to find leading Tyre Pressure Monitoring System experts. Following the success of Autogem’s inaugural TPMS Expert contest last year, the company has changed up a gear with its Under Pressure ’23 event, featuring qualifying rounds between April 19 and 21 and a grand finale to be held on June 28, at a top secret location, to be announced in the coming weeks. Autotech Training and CAM Systems are official sponsors of the competition, with categories to include Large Tyre Retailer, Small Tyre Retailer and a Young TPMS Expert element for the first time. A range of premium prizes will be awarded to the winners awards up for grabs for a second year.
