TMD Friction’s technical training team recently won the Outstanding Achievement award at the annual Independent Automotive Aftermarket Federation (IAAF) awards dinner. Taking place at DoubleTree by Hilton Milton Keynes on Thursday 8 December, the IAAF annual awards ceremony recognised exceptional contributions to the aftermarket sector throughout 2022.
First Brands Group – parent company of prominent brands Trico, Airtex and Autolite – has revealed it has become a category sponsor at the renowned CAT Awards in February 2023. One of the main focuses for First Brands Group in 2023 will be to continue to educate the industry, with technical material, partnerships and training campaigns as its top priorities. To further support this strategy, as well as marking its OESAA membership earlier in 2022, First Brands Group has become the sponsor of the ‘Training Award Of The Year’ category at the CAT Awards, a brand new award that celebrates the best training given at all levels in the industry.
As 2022 draws to a close, Bridgestone representatives reflected on the highlights of a “memorable” 2022, including: strategic appointments, commercial vehicle tyre and fleet developments, and numerous award wins.
Tyre Spot was ranked 8th in the prestigious Ward Hadaway North East Fastest 50 Awards medium-sized business category and 38th overall after another record-breaking year for the family-run business. The North East Fastest 50 Awards, in association with The Journal, celebrate growth, innovation and the commercial achievements of North East businesses. Based on financial data filed with Companies House, the list ranks the 50 best-performing privately-owned companies which have consistently increased turnover over the past three financial years, whilst remaining profitable.
Apollo Tyres’ Chennai Plant was recently awarded the Deming Prize, one of the highest awards relating to Total Quality Management (TQM). C Thomas Mathew, Unit Head, Chennai Plant, Apollo Tyres Ltd received the award from the Deming Prize Committee in Tokyo, Japan on Monday, 14 November.
Ring Automotive’s 12V tyre inflators have received plaudits in the latest product tests in Auto Express, with Ring’s RTC1000 being awarded the title’s Best Buy title and the RTC450 a recommended status.
Michelin Tyre plc was presented with the Environmental and Sustainable Solution of the Year Award for the second year running at the Tyre Industry Awards 2022. Announcing the winner, event host Louise Minchin said: “Michelin’s entry was considered visionary and a template for an approach to long-term sustainability in manufacturing within the context of the circular economy.” The Tyre Industry Award was judged by an independent panel of Liverymen on the Wheelwrights’ Craft Committee.
Falkirk tyre retailer Skidz was named Tyre Retailer of the Year at the Tyre Industry Awards. The family-owned business, a member of the Michelin Quality Centre network, won the Small Tyre Retailer category for the best single location site, before going on to be crowned the NTDA’s overall winner ahead of the Medium Retailer (up to 25 centres) and Large Retailer (national chain) champions.
The Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) has launched its 2023 Awards with the winners to be announced at the IMI Annual Dinner on Wednesday 15 March 2023. Reflecting the changing automotive landscape, two new categories have been added. The President’s Award 2023, sponsored by BMW/Alphera, will focus on Environmental, Sustainability and Green Innovation in Learning with the aim of shining a spotlight on the individuals demonstrating a forward-thinking commitment to the rapidly evolving automotive technologies.
Bridgestone’s ultra-high performance tyre, the Potenza Sport, has received more acclaim for the manufacturer, as its adrenalin fuelled marketing campaign was made Industry Marketing Campaign of the Year at the NTDA’s Tyre Industry Awards. Bridgestone targeted its 1 April to 30 June campaign at consumers making more informed decisions than the average tyre buyer, addressing their passion for driving.
Continental Tyre Group has received a RoSPA Gold Health and Safety Award, an internationally recognised award for demonstrating high health and safety standards. The award recognises Conti’s efforts to ensure its staff all get home safely to their families at the end of every working day.
Original equipment (OE) wiper blade manufacturer, Trico, has once again been presented with an award at the A1 Motor Stores annual convention: this year its Exact Fit range won Product of the Year. For more than a decade, Trico and A1 Motor Stores have enjoyed a fantastic business relationship, with members able to offer their customers a range of wiper blades that boast OE quality, safety and performance.
Klarius has won the NAA Logistics Excellence Award presented by DHL Supply, in recognition of its market-leading nationwide next morning delivery service. The aftermarket exhaust manufacturer was commended for its overall performance, logistical innovation and capacity to deliver excellence.
The National Tyre Distributors Association presented the Tyre Industry Awards 2022, sponsored by Sailun Tyres, at the Vox Conference Centre in Birmingham on 6 October. In July, TyreSafe held its first post-lockdown in-person day conference and awards event. More recently the NTDA named the winners at its annual Tyre Industry Awards event. And our sister publication WhatTyre.com has also published names of the winners of its 2022 WhatTyre Tyre of the Year awards. What these three things have in common is that they all aim to give credit where credit is due. They all aim to reward success.
