Omni United won the prestigious 2015 Enterprise 50 Award for the third consecutive year. This prestigious honour is given to the top 50 Singapore-based companies for their outstanding business management, innovation, market presence and contribution to the economic development in Singapore and abroad. In 2014 Omni United was ranked 13th in the Enterprise 50 Awards and this year the ranking has improved to 11th position.
Bridgestone’s double victory at the NTDA Awards 2015 was labelled a “significant breakthrough for the business.” The world’s largest tyre manufacturer won both the Tyre Manufacturer of the Year and the Industry Marketing Campaign of the Year awards, presented at the Annual Dinner in early October. Bridgestone added that the awards pay “tribute to the giant strides made by its senior management team over the past 12 months.”
The Maxxis Premitra HP5 was named ‘Tyre of the Year’ at the 2015 Motor Trend magazine award ceremony in Shanghai in August. The new tyre is not available in the UK yet, but is expected to arrive on these shores in the first quarter of 2016 when it will be exclusively distributed by Stapleton’s. Maxxis reports that it made the decision to initially launch the HP5 tyre in China in May due to the size and therefore importance of the Chinese market.
Winning the National Tyre Distributors Association Wholesaler of the year award in 2015 was “an extra special achievement”, according to leading tyre wholesaler Stapleton’s. This is said to have especially been the case as it was the first year in the awards history that all the awards were judged by a panel of independent adjudicators from the wider tyre and automoteive industry community.
The IAAF has unveiled the theme of this year’s conference: “How to survive and thrive – Now and in the future” and will include an exclusive talk on how 3D printing is billed as the “future of manufacturing.” The conference takes place on 17 December at the ICC in Birmingham and aims to examine current issues from both the UK and Europe, highlight the key changes from both a technical and a market perspective and consider what opportunities there are for the future.
Leading wiper blade company TRICO recently scooped the A1 Motor Stores Product of the Year Award, voted by the A1 members for its Exact Fit range.
The winners of the 2015 Tyre Industry Awards were announced during the 86th NTDA Annual Dinner on 1 October following the new one-day Tyre Industry Conference at the International Convention Centre (ICC), Birmingham. Attendance at the dinner set a new record, with 60 tables sold out. The speaker and presenter of the awards was former England Rugby Union international, amateur dancer and current television pundit, Austin Healey, who added some trademark irreverence to proceedings. The Awards were also live-tweeted as they were announced on the @Tyrepress Twitter feed. The awards were sponsored this year by Sailun Tyres.
PACT – the electronic trading initiative from eparts and TecAlliance – has become a finalist in the BCS & Computing UK IT Industry Awards.
As the only automotive IT solutions provider in the awards, PACT is in the running for Services Company of the Year, which is awarded to recognise excellence in the provision of IT systems.
Dunlop walked away with a gold OttoCar at yesterday’s AutoVision Awards ceremony in Frankfurt, and Vredestein landed a silver accolade. The biennial awards ceremony took place during the IAA show and saw Goodyear Dunlop Tires honoured for its ‘One Second’ commercial. One Second also won a black award for best direction and best editing. A silver OttoCar award came Apollo Vredestein’s way in recognition of its Vredestein Snowtrac and Quattrac 5 product launch films.

Nexen Tyre has been recognized as an “outstanding supplier” by Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA). Nexen received the award at the ‘2014 Outstanding Supplier Quality Award’ held on 15th September, at Imperial Palace Hotel in Seoul, Korea by Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA).
EDT Automotive, based in Westwell Leacon, near Ashford in Kent, has won a prestigious Green Apple Award for Environmental Best Practice. The engine detox company competed against more than 500 nominees to win the award, which will be presented at a glittering ceremony at the Houses of Parliament, London, on Monday 16 November.
Continental Tyres today announced a sponsorship deal with media group Future plc that will see the tyre maker involved across Future’s leading tech titles and take on headline sponsorship of the T3 Awards 2015.
The SMMT is receiving entries for its Automotive Award for Innovation, which recognises UK-developed concepts and technologies with the potential to transform the automotive industry.
The new format for the Tyre Industry Awards, where companies are required to submit entries that will be judged by an independent panel of judges from the wider business community, appears to be a popular change after the NTDA was overwhelmed with nominations on deadline day (31 July 2015).
