Rema Tip Top Automotive UK won its fourth consecutive Tyre Industry Award in the Aftermarket Equipment Supplier of the Year category. Sponsored by Automechanika, the award was presented to group CEO Mark Insley and managing director Cliff Jones at the 88th Annual NTDA Dinner on 12 October.
Following three 2017 Tyre Industry Awards, European Tyre Enterprises Limited (ETEL) said its success in three separate personnel focused awards categories proved the quality of its staff development initiatives. The company prevailed in the Staff Training and Development Initiative Award with Kwik-Fit, while members of staff won National Apprentice Tyre Technician of the Year (Kimberley Locker, STS Tyre Pro) and REACT Roadside Technician of the Year award (Adam Grimley, Central Tyre (Commercial), who shared the award with Tomasz Woiciechowski of Tyre Maintenance).
Trico has responded to being ranked ‘Commended’ in the Auto Express Product Awards 2017, following a four-star rating in the Auto Express Wiper Blades Test in the August 2017 issue.
Dunlop has received motorcycle manufacturer KTM’s Supplier Quality Excellence Award. The Austrian manufacturer rated Dunlop as an A+ supplier for the perfect supply of motorcycle tyres in 2016. Dunlop states that KTM is currently the fastest growing motorcycle manufacturer in the world.
Yokohama stated that it was “honoured” to secure the NTDA Marketing Campaign of the Year Award 2017. In its award-winning campaign, the manufacturer utilised its partnership with Chelsea Football Club to generate high-profile awareness of tyre safety issues, creating a powerful call to action encouraging football fans to check their tyres and travel safely.
The winners of the UK’s “tyre industry Oscars” have been announced following a five-month submissions process. Tyres & Accessories was present for the ceremony and, as in previous years was on hand to live tweet the results.

Arconic has announced that its Alcoa forged aluminium wheels have received a quality achievement award from PACCAR for meeting or exceeding stringent 10 parts per million (PPM) quality performance requirements. Arconic achieved 0 PPM in 2016 for deliveries to DAF, a subsidiary of PACCAR, reflecting excellence in every step of the manufacturing process, forging to finishing to packaging.
