Global Michelin licensee Wheely-Safe is celebrating after its Michelin Wheel Security and Tyre Pressure Management System (TPMS) Heavy Fleet secured the prestigious Transport Technology of the Year Award at the National Technology Awards in London recently.
Bridgestone has retained the title of ‘Australia’s Most Trusted Tyre Brand’ for a sixth consecutive year. The leading tyre company remains the sole recipient of the coveted award since the tyres category was added to Reader’s Digest’s Most Trusted Brands accolades in 2014.
Shiply has been named winner of Best Digital Climate Change Innovation at the 2019 Transport Awards. The award recognises Shiply’s significant impact in reducing carbon emissions, by matching people who need to move goods with transport companies already making similar journeys.
Superbrands has revealed that Continental Tyres has been awarded Consumer Superbrands status for 2019.
The Consumer Superbrands survey has been tracking the perception of a wide-range of brands in the UK since 1995. This year’s survey featured 1,596 brands across 78 different categories, ranging from ‘Automotive Products’ to ‘Vitamins & Supplements’. Only the most highly-regarded brands from each category are awarded Superbrand status.
Via its Standards Programme, HiQ Tyres and Autocare aims to drive a high level of attention to detail in every aspect of the fast fit and automotive business. In order to verify the standards achieved by its franchisees, the fast-fit network audits all centres and awards top performers accordingly. This year, HiQ has awarded Gold Standards Awards to 47 per cent of its franchise centres throughout the UK.
Automechanika Birmingham’s Garage of the Year competition is now open for entries. Sponsored by the Independent Garage Association (IGA) and run in partnership with Garage Wire, the competition is open to garages from across the UK and Ireland. Entries can be made online at Garage Wire, but must be submitted before the deadline of 26 April 2019.
The Manufacturing Institute has recognized Kathleen Slocum, senior manager, Corporate Quality for Cooper Tire & Rubber Company, with a Women in Manufacturing STEP (Science, Technology, Engineering and Production) Ahead Award for 2019. Slocum is among 130 women nationally who earned the honour this year from a field of hundreds of nominees.
Test World has won the ‘Tire Industry Supplier of the Year’ award at the Tire Technology International Awards for Innovation and Excellence 2019. According to the company, the win recognises continued investment in Test World, with expanded indoor test facilities due to be officially opened during a ceremony on the 27 March.
Schaeffler has been named Supplier of the Year by Nexus Automotive International, a trading group represented in the UK by The Parts Alliance.
The Independent Automotive Aftermarket Federation (IAAF) has presented the runner-up award for IAAF Service Supplier of the Year 2018 to PACT, the joint venture between eParts and TecAlliance.

Michelin was awarded the prize at the 2019 Tire Technology International Awards for Innovation and Excellence at a ceremony during Tire Technology Expo 2019 at the Deutsche Messe, Hannover, Germany.

Goodyear’s SoundComfort has been voted Product of the Year 2019 in a consumer research survey conducted by Nielsen in Belgium and the Netherlands. The noise reduction technology aims to address consumer and market needs as a result of the decreasing noise of car engines, especially since the arrival of electric and hybrid vehicles. With less noise coming from the engine, the noise caused by tyres is becoming more noticeable.
Lehigh Technologies has won the Young Global Leaders Award for Circular Economy SME (small to medium-sized enterprise) for The Circulars 2019, the 5th iteration of the award, in Davos at the World Economic Forum on 21 January 2019.
What Car? has named the Kia e-Niro electric vehicle (EV) as its 2019 Car of the Year during its 42nd annual awards ceremony, held in association with Warranty Direct and BNP Paribas Cardif on Tuesday 22 January at Grosvenor House, Park Lane.
