Continental tyres have long served as the point of contact between vehicle and road, and now horse riders can equip their preferred mode of transport with Continental ‘footwear’. During the annual Nissan Europe Supplier Quality Seminar, representatives from Nissan’s Purchasing Department recognised Goodyear Dunlop’s “excellent quality performance in supplying automotive components to Nissan.” Although it announced news of this honour today, the tyre maker was awarded at a ceremony that took place at the Nissan Brand Center in Barcelona, Spain last September.
Trelleborg describes its receipt of the ‘Best Contribution’ award at last month’s 2017 AGCO China Supplier Day held in Changzhou, Jiangsu province, as a “great honour.”

The Kama 385/65R 22.5 NF 202, a solid-steel cord truck tyre manufactured by the Nizhnekamsk SSC Tire Factory, is a winner in the ‘Industrial and Technology Products’ of the ‘Best goods and services of the Republic of Tatarstan’ competition. Parent company Tatneft writes that the tyre was chosen from 449 applications submitted by 207 manufacturers.
Further ‘silverware’ for Nexen Tire – two of the South Korean manufacturer’s products, the N’Fera AU7 and the Breathre concept tyre, have received International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA).
From the 19 awards given at the 15th edition of the Volkswagen Group Awards on 28 June, seven VW Group suppliers received a Volkswagen Group Award in the category of Innovation & Technology. This select group included Bridgestone. Matthias Müller, chief executive officer of Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft, and Dr Francisco Javier Garcia Sanz, Group Board of Management member with responsibility for Procurement, presented the tyre maker’s award to Paolo Ferrari, chief executive officer and president of Bridgestone EMEA.
Major Indian vehicle manufacturer Mahindra & Mahindra bestowed its ‘Business Partner of the Year’ award upon Apollo Tyres at its recent annual suppliers meeting. The award, the highest recognition given to any supplier for overall outstanding performance during the entire financial year, was accepted by Satish Sharma, Apollo Tyres’ Asia Pacific, Middle East & Africa region president, and Sandeep Mathur, the tyre maker’s head of OEM and Institutional Business.
