The Tosu and Hikone plants – two of the ten tyre factories that Bridgestone operates in Japan – have received 2015 Supplier Quality Excellence Awards from the General Motors Company. The vehicle manufacturer officially handed Bridgestone the awards at a ceremony held at the Tosu plant on 18 August. This is the first time that the two plants have received a GM Supplier Quality Excellence Award.
Vipal has presented 11 retreaders and distributors with plaques commemorating their history in partnership. The South American manufacturer of tyre repair and retreading products chose to mark decade and half-decade relationships with partners in UK, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Hungary and Turkey.
ATS Euromaster’s Dunstable centre has won an International Safety Award from the British Safety Council. The centre was nominated by Andy Drake, Health and Safety Advisor at ATS Euromaster, following a routine assessment where the team was found to have an exceptional commitment to safety.
Trelleborg has won the “Neumático del Año Agrícola 2016” or Agricultural Tyre of the Year award in Spain. On 26 July Trelleborg received the award for its new TM1060 range. Organised by NMR magazine – Neumáticos y Mecánica Rápida – the award recognises outstanding contributions to the agricultural industry in terms of innovation, performance and respect for the environment.
A concept from Nexen Tire that allows motorists to simply replace their tyre’s tread rather than the entire tyre has been acknowledged at this year’s Red Dot Design Awards. The Green Hive tyre, which possesses a “rechargeable tread,” has been awarded in the ‘Design Concept’ award category.
For the seventh year in a row, Nexen Tire has topped the tyre category in Global Customer Satisfaction Competency Index (GCSI), a survey carried out by the Global Management Association in Korea under the supervision of Japan’s JMA Consultants. The tyre maker was honoured for this result at a ceremony in Beijing on 23 June, with Yang Chang-soo, president of Nexen Tire Qingdao, accepting the official award certificate on behalf of Nexen Tire.
Zenises has presented the world’s most expensive tyre at the firm’s Reifen Show launch event. Continental brand Semperit is introducing further additions to its Runner commercial tyre range, having launched the line in 2015. The steer-axle tyre, Runner F2 and the drive-axle tyre, Runner D2 which are for use in combined regional and long-distance transportation are now available in the size 315/70R22.5, joining the existing 315/80R22.5 model. The high-mileage tyres offer both a long service life and good fuel efficiency. The complete Runner range, which includes the trailer-axle tyre Runner T2, are on display at the Commercial Vehicle Show 2016 in Birmingham.
For the fifth consecutive year, Kumho Tire has been honoured with a Red Dot Design Award. Kumho’s winning entries within the product design category of this year’s awards were the K-Silent Tyre and Road Venture MT51.
The Conti Hybrid HT3 trailer tyre has landed a “Red Dot: Best of the Best” design award. The award, given in the product design category, pertains to the size 445/45 R 19.5 and 435/50 R 19.5 fitments; Continental says the Red Dot jury awarded the Conti Hybrid HT3 for its “incomparable design quality and groundbreaking construction.”
On 10 March, General Motors held its 24th annual Supplier of the Year awards ceremony in the company’s headquarters city of Detroit, recognising 110 suppliers from 17 countries, including Bridgestone. It was the 14th occasion that Bridgestone Corporation has been designated a GM Supplier of the Year since the vehicle manufacturer inaugurated the award in 1992.
Bridgestone Corporation shares that it received an Environmental Award from Honda Motor Co., Ltd at an awards ceremony held at the tyre maker’s Tochigi plant in Japan on 18 February. At the event, Bridgestone’s vice-president Yutaka Yamaguchi was awarded a certificate of commendation by Hiroshi Saito, general manager of Honda Motor’s global operations planning office. This is the first time that Bridgestone has received an Environmental Award from Honda.
Camso has been honoured as Toyota Material Handling Europe’s Supplier of the Year 2015 in the ‘Counterbalanced Trucks’ category after collaborating on a new range of Toyota forklifts. The company worked closely with Toyota Material Handling Europe to introduce its Solideal Magnum Resilient forklift tyre on the latest range of Toyota counterbalanced forklift trucks.
The Continental HT3 trailer tyre, specifically the low profile size 445/45 R 19.5 fitment, has won the tyre maker an iF Design Award. The 58-person iF Design Award judging panel voted the tyre a winner in the ‘product’ award category; the award will be presented to Continental at a ceremony held in Munich, Germany on 26 February. A Conti Hybrid HT3 445/45 R 19.5 tyre is also on display at the iF Design exhibition in Hamburg, where the judges made their decision.
Bridgestone Americas shares that it has been designated a Partner-level supplier for 2015 in the John Deere & Company Achieving Excellence Program. Partner-level status is Deere & Company’s highest supplier rating, and Bridgestone states for this selection recognises its dedication to providing products and service of outstanding quality, as well as its commitment to continuous improvement. Bridgestone says its employees accepted the recognition at a ceremony held in the USA recently.
