The award of ‘Port Tyre Manufacturer of the Year’ at the recent Terminal Operator Excellence Awards 2016 in Dubai went to Balkrishna Industries Ltd. (BKT).

Cooper all-season tyre lands Good Design award
The Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design and the European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies has bestowed a Good Design award upon the Cooper Zeon RS3-G1. Cooper was awarded under the transportation category, one of 27 awards categories, and was one of 29 transportation awardees. The tyre maker comments that the Cooper Zeon RS3-G1 was selected from “several thousand entries from more than 55 countries.”
Design award for Goodyear Eagle-360
It’s already been named one of Time magazine’s Best Inventions of the Year 2016, and now the Goodyear Eagle-360 has gained a further accolade from the Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design and the European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies – the spherical concept tyre has gained a 2016 Good Design award in the Transportation category.
AlloyGator wins SEMA Global Media Award
Alloy wheel protection specialist AlloyGator has snapped up a 2017 Global Media Award at this year’s annual SEMA Show in Las Vegas. A jury panel of 34 leading journalists from around the world selected the company ahead of nearly 3,000 product in recognition of its products’ potential mass appeal to consumers in countries outside of the United States.
Spinning the Wheel: Pirelli receives Graphis platinum award for annual report
Pirelli’s 2013 annual report, titled ‘Spinning the Wheel’, has been awarded a platinum medal in the Annual Reports 2014-2016 competition held by Graphis, a magazine dedicated to pre-eminent design production around the world. Spinning the Wheel was one of only eight annual reports to achieve platinum status; a further 77 were awarded gold and 92 received a silver medal.
Trelleborg inflation system gains SIMA award
The ‘2 in 1’ tyre from Michelin wasn’t the only tyre innovation honoured at yesterday’s 2017 SIMA Innovation Awards. Trelleborg Wheel Systems also walked away with a gold medal for its soon to be released Variable Inflation Pressure, or VIPTM, system.
SIMA award for Michelin ‘2 in 1’ tyre
A shape-shifting tyre that protects soil while accommodating on-road use is Michelin’s answer to the growing size of agricultural machinery, and this new solution – the ‘2 in 1’ tyre – has landed a SIMA Innovation Award ahead of its launch under the Evobib brand name next year.
Gold for Vredestein #ROCKTHEROAD video
Dutch electronic music artist DJ Hardwell comes across as an unlikely bedfellow for a tyre manufacturer, however his association with Apollo Vredestein has proven golden. The ‘Run Wild’ music video by DJ Hardwell, part of Vredestein’s #ROCKTHEROAD promotional campaign, has been presented with a Golden Dolphin in the Integrated Communication category at the Cannes Corporate Media & TV Awards 2016. Facing competition from over 1,000 submissions and 177 selected productions, Vredestein was awarded the Golden Dolphin at a ceremony held in Palm Beach, Cannes last night.
Design award for Kumho all-season tyre
Kumho’s latest all-season tyre, the Solus HA31, has been accorded a Japanese Good Design Award. So too has the Kumho Eco Sense SE11 – a pattern specifically designed for environmentally friendly and electric vehicles but which, unlike the HA31, isn’t currently available in the UK market.
Bridgestone named to the Dow Jones Sustainability World and Asia Pacific indices
Make that seven in a row. Bridgestone Corporation is back in the Dow Jones Sustainability Asia Pacific Index for the seventh consecutive year, and this repeat performance has been accompanied by its first-time entry into the Dow Jones SustainabilityWorld Index (DJSIWorld). These indices, maintained collaboratively by S&P Dow Jones Indices and RobecoSAM, measure the performance of the world’s sustainability leaders based on a comprehensive analysis of long-term economic, environmental and social criteria.
Continental gains Automechanika awards for Taraxagum project
Work on its ‘Taraxagum – Dandelion Rubber Tires’ project has won Continental both the Innovation and the Green Award at Automechanika 2016. Maria Hanczuch from the Continental Business Development for Passenger and Light Truck Tires business unit accepted the award at the Frankfurt show on behalf of the tyre maker.
Bridgestone plants receive GM supplier awards
The Tosu and Hikone plants – two of the ten tyre factories that Bridgestone operates in Japan – have received 2015 Supplier Quality Excellence Awards from the General Motors Company. The vehicle manufacturer officially handed Bridgestone the awards at a ceremony held at the Tosu plant on 18 August. This is the first time that the two plants have received a GM Supplier Quality Excellence Award.
Vipal honours European clients for partnership longevity
Vipal has presented 11 retreaders and distributors with plaques commemorating their history in partnership. The South American manufacturer of tyre repair and retreading products chose to mark decade and half-decade relationships with partners in UK, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Hungary and Turkey.
ATS Euromaster Dunstable wins safety award
ATS Euromaster’s Dunstable centre has won an International Safety Award from the British Safety Council. The centre was nominated by Andy Drake, Health and Safety Advisor at ATS Euromaster, following a routine assessment where the team was found to have an exceptional commitment to safety.
Trelleborg Agricultural Tyre of the Year 2016 award in Spain
Trelleborg has won the “Neumático del Año Agrícola 2016” or Agricultural Tyre of the Year award in Spain. On 26 July Trelleborg received the award for its new TM1060 range. Organised by NMR magazine – Neumáticos y Mecánica Rápida – the award recognises outstanding contributions to the agricultural industry in terms of innovation, performance and respect for the environment.
