GRI (Global Rubber Industries), a proud Sri Lankan company, has won the MHI Innovation Award for Best Innovation in Sustainability at ProMat 2025, held in Chicago, USA. The recognition honours GRI’s Ultimate Green XT as the world’s most sustainable Material Handling tyre made with 93.5 per cent sustainable materials.
Frost & Sullivan has recognised the Webfleet management solution as its European Commercial Fleet Telematics Company of the Year 2025. Sharing news of this distinction, Bridgestone says that following an extensive analysis of the telematics market, the global research and consulting firm presented the award to Webfleet in recognition of its “formidable performance in innovation, business growth and customer care.”
Established in 1987, the Prince Michael International Road Safety Award recognises innovation and achievement in enhancing road safety both in the UK and around the world. Bridgestone Corporation has become an awardee thanks to its Bridgestone Road Safety Program (BSRP) and was honoured at the Annual Awards Luncheon Ceremony held at The Savoy in London on 10 December. Prince Michael presented the award to Paul Choo, Chief Human Resources Officer, responsible for HR and CSR across Bridgestone Asia Pacific, India, China (BSAPIC), and Mei Ling Tan, Director, CSR, BSAPIC.
The British Safety Council has awarded Apollo Tyres Ltd its Sword of Honour, demonstrating excellence in the management of health and safety risks at work. The company’s plant in Andhra Pradesh, India gained this distinction after achieving Five Stars in the British Safety Council health and safety management audit conducted in the qualification period between 1 August 2023 and 31 July 2024. The tyre maker also demonstrated, to an independent panel, excellence in its health and safety management throughout the business – from the shopfloor to the boardroom.
On the evening of 4 December, CLEPA – the European Association of Automotive Suppliers – held its ninth CLEPA Innovation Awards in Brussels. In addition to featuring talks with high-level EU policy makers on the future of transport, the event awarded 12 Top Innovators, six each in the categories ‘Digital’ and ‘Green’. The latter category included kudos for a tyre, the Continental UltraContact NXT.
TyreSafe has once again gained the Prince Michael International Road Safety Award, an accolade that highlights the UK tyre safety charity’s vision of reducing to zero the harm that poorly maintained or illegal tyres cause road users. The award comes at a significant time in TyreSafe’s two decades of campaigning, as the organisation claims to be “undergoing its most progressive strategic shift and growth period.”
Honda has recognised Hankook Tire North America with two 2023 Mass Production Supplier Awards, reflecting its ongoing collaboration with the automaker in delivering original equipment, a partnership that dates back to 2013.
The Continental UltraContact NXT is a German Innovation Award 2024 winner. The jury of the German Design Council acknowledged the Continental tyre in the ‘Excellence in Business to Consumer: Transportation’ category. With up to 65 per cent renewable, recycled and ISCC PLUS mass balance certified materials, the UltraContact NXT is Continental’s most sustainable production tyre to date.
Hankook Tire & Technology shares its latest triumph, being named ‘Winner’ in the Product Design category at the Red Dot Design Award 2024.
Bridgestone Aircraft Tire Europe (BAE) has received a ‘Factory of the Future’ award for its facility in Frameries, Belgium. BAE is one of 17 firms honoured by Digital Wallonie, the Walloon Government’s digital strategy, at a ceremony that took place in Brussels on 8 February.
China’s state broadcaster CCTV presented the fourth annual China Automotive Festival on 28 January. The event at Beijing National Stadium included an awards ceremony honouring the best from domestic and international manufacturers, and amongst the recipients was Sailun Group, which won the Jury’s Choice Award for its EcoPoint3 technology. Mrs Liu Yanhua, chairwoman of Sailun Group, accepted the award on behalf of the tyre maker.
Continental’s most sustainable series tyre to date is a winner at the International Design Awards 2023. The International Design Awards (IDA) jury has awarded the Continental UltraContact NXT its Gold award in the Automotive & Transport / Cars Accessories category for its special sidewall design.
McConechy’s Tyres Coatbridge has gained a Goodyear TruckForce Award, an accolade that “recognises the exceptional service provided by TruckForce partners on a quarterly basis.” Goodyear honoured McConechy’s, which is part of Halfords Commercial Fleet Services, for its dedication and professionalism.
The Automobile Club de France has named the Pirelli P Zero E ‘Tyre of the Year’ at the 2023 Automobile Awards. A jury of 20 men and women selected the Pirelli tyre for its performance, innovation, and sustainable development. Alejandro Recasens, Pirelli’s West Europe managing director, accepted the award on behalf of the tyre maker.
SMP Europe won Product of the Year at the Independent Automotive Aftermarket Federation (IAAF) Pride of the Aftermarket Awards 2023. The award was presented for its state-of-the-art EGR Valves. Martin Turner, marketing director at SMP Europe comments: “We are incredibly proud that our team’s hard work and commitment to delivering high-quality products to our customers has been recognised – it is especially humbling, as it was voted for by IAAF members, and we’d like to express our gratitude to each and every person who took the time to vote.”
