Leading India tyre and rubber industry associations Automotive Tyre Manufacturers Association (ATMA) and the All-India Rubber Industries Association (AIRIA) have asked for immediate suspension of futures trading in rubber following allegations of speculation in the futures market playing havoc with physical markets.
According to RacingAGE, a division of Automotive Garage Equipment Limited, Fasep wheel balancers are now widely seen as the "must have" wheel balancer in motorsport circles. The Alvechurch-based supplier of the Italian brand says nothing comes close to the Fasep B212 in terms of build quality, accuracy, speed and price. “Although they may seem expensive compared to the many wheel balancers coming out of the far east at the moment, you certainly would not be able to trust one of those lesser makes to balance 2000 wheels in 24 hours of desert heat,” commented a RacingAGE representative.
Non-destructive tyre testing equipment provider L-Ray has launched its newest differometric tyre analyser model for the tyre manufacturing and retreading industry. The new MDA-48 series machines will use the same differometric technology as previous, more expensive models, but in a manual load/unload, two-camera configuration with a base price of under $100,000.

Bosch has demonstrated some of its oldest and newest automotive technology at the RAC Future Car Challenge and London to Brighton Veteran Car Run. On Saturday 5 November, Bosch showcased its latest split-axle hybrid technology in the Peugeot 3008 HYbrid4, which took part in the 60-mile RAC Future Car Challenge, driven by Rory Reid from CNET; on the next day Peter Fouquet, president of Robert Bosch UK, took part in the London to Brighton Veteran Car Run in a 1904 Mercedes-Simplex touring car, which uses a Bosch magneto and spark plug.

Point S and Independent Tire Dealers Group, a US-based organisation that represents more than 350 independent tyre and automotive service locations across 27 states, have announced they will make a “special announcement of global proportions” at the SEMA show in Las Vegas tomorrow. No further details regarding the announcement’s content have been made public, yet tomorrow’s statement should finally shed light on comments made by Point S Development director Jürgen Benz in April; at the time, Benz reported plans for the France-based operation to hold concrete negotiations with potential network partners in the US, and he stated he was “firmly convinced that the first Point S flags will soon flutter in North America.”
Continental AG chief Elmar Degenhart has said the company will target above-average profitable growth in BRIC countries, especially in China and other Asian countries, Tire Review reports. Kwik Fit Group has confirmed its intention to sell Speedy, the group’s French automotive fast-fit company. The announcement confirms earlier reports tyrepress.com published in September that suggested that the business’s suitors included president Jacques Le Foll, his predecessor Giles Chauveau, backed by investment fund Butler Capital, plus automotive centre operator Feu Vert, who previously had its eye on Speedy some four years ago. (Feu Vert is a French workshop and automotive specialty shop chain that operates more than 400 outlets, around three-quarters of which are located in France).
