Suspension manufacturer Bilstein has released an OEM replacement for the non-turbocharged Porsche 997. The replacement part maintains the character and comfort of the original car, integrating with the factory PASM system. Bilstein’s B4 damper package helps to significantly enhance the dynamic abilities of an older 997, working in harmony with either the OEM springs or any quality aftermarket parts.
When Unipart Automotive went into administration, Andrew Page and The Parts Alliance struck a deal to take over 33 branches, saving around 320 jobs. Since then Euro Car Parts has hired 65 more ex-Unipart staff, while promising another 1,500 jobs to be created in the comig 18 months. According to the latest reports from The Parts Alliance, this number has risen to around 500 ex-employees of Unipart Automotive. And the parts buying and distribution group says that extra jobs are planned for more of the reported 1,244 staff members made redundant by Unipart Automotive’s demise.
The First Line Group (FLG) is to make Frankfurt’s Automechanika “the centrepiece of its export strategy” as it exhibits from its biggest ever stand (5.1 C58) this September. The company’s global Borg & Beck brand, acquired in 2006, will be the primary focus of the stand, displaying high quality clutch kits and components and the OES equivalent braking programme. FLG opened its first Borg & Beck distribution centre in Germany at the beginning of the year, and a move into larger premises is already in the works, increasing the importance of the German aftermarket show.

The Unipart Group has released a statement on Unipart Automotive’s descent into administration and the partial rescue by a joint deal between Andrew Page and The Parts Alliance. While expressing sympathy for the company’s plight, the Unipart Group sought to delineate the boundary between the Unipart business units of which it remains in control and the stricken parts distributor.

Lancashire based member of The Parts Alliance BBC Superfactors has celebrated 30 years in business by taking on its 100th employee. The company has grown from selling brake pads and brake shoes to providing a full range of parts and accessories to a customer base 600 to 700 strong.
First Line’s Borg & Beck brand is expanding to encompass a comprehensive range of high quality rotating electrics. The brand is already an established player in the clutch sector and is increasing its interest in the braking market. The new programme contains more than 1,000 starter and alternator references.
The Parts Alliance group has been acquired by investors HgCapital (HgC). The acquisition of the business, along with its central facilities in Solihull and central warehouse in Smethwick, was completed on Friday 4 April. Peter Sephton has become chief executive, pledging “to build an industry leading board of industry experts” to drive the enhanced business forward. Sephton retains his role as Group CEO of the HgCapital-owned Parts Alliance members which trade under local brand names and are organised into The Western Alliance and The Eastern Alliance.
