Bartec Auto ID will host an interactive workshop and seminar programme during its second visit to Automechanika Birmingham. Not only is Automechanika Birmingham 2017 set to be 70 per cent bigger than last year’s inaugural show, this year’s event seeks to connect the aftermarket with industry and government to support inward investment. Speaking at a press conference in central London on 9 March, Automechanika Birmingham event director Simon Albert and SMMT chief executive shared how they will bring the UK automotive industry together as part of efforts to “boost supply chain reshoring and make British cars more British” while at the same connecting the manufacturing and aftermarket sectors with each other.

The Independent Automotive Aftermarket Federation (IAAF) has announced that it will be hosting seven industry briefing sessions throughout the UK in 2017 to provide all members with access to the latest aftermarket updates and keep them up to date on the challenges and opportunities facing the industry.
Automechanika Birmingham is claiming to be on the brink of delivering “the UK’s biggest automotive event” ahead of the second edition of the show, which will be held from 6 – 8 June 2017 at the NEC in Birmingham.
According to the show’s organisers the 2017 event will be 70 per cent bigger than the 2016 show, hosting over 750 quality exhibitors located in a new hall format and offering a seminar programme of talks from industry experts on tomorrow’s technologies and aftermarket business challenges.

The NTDA Tyre Wholesale Group annual lunch saw greatly increased numbers alongside enhanced association support in its new position the day before the Tyre Industry Conference (5 October 2016), and location (the Hilton Birmingham Metropole adjacent to the NEC). The group chairman, Kirkby Tyres’ John Parker, presented his third – and potentially final – annual survey of the UK wholesale landscape. His topics included part-worn tyres, against which he joined the NTDA in taking a more radically oppositional stance, commented on the coming challenges and perhaps opportunities of Brexit, and the role of wholesalers in the e-commerce age.
The Tyre Industry Awards have been presented for 2016 during the sold-out NTDA Annual Dinner, this year hosted by the Vox Conference Centre on the site of Birmingham’s National Exhibition Centre. In addition to the various gongs, the NTDA presented Sir Tom Farmer with the National Chairman’s Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Tyre Industry, sponsored by Hankook UK, while Brian Funnell and Lennie Wells were also made NTDA Honorary Life Members. Presented by television personality Suzi Perry, the winners were decided by a panel of leading industry judges, and the results live-tweeted by Tyrepress via its Twitter feed.

Delphi Product & Service Solutions has launched its new DS-Flash Pass-Thru package at Automechanika Birmingham. The tool provides independent garages with online access to vehicle manufacturer’s websites, enabling workshop to reprogram and update vehicle electronic control units without expensive dealer-only tools and software.
The close working relationship between Messe Frankfurt, organisers of the Automechanika automotive trade exhibitions, and Messe Essen’s Reifen tyre industry event, has been consolidated further. The two organisations announced that they would enhance their working relationship through a global partnership across all Automechanika events from 2017 onwards, with the two major exhibitions coming together for the first time at Automechanika Birmingham in June 2017.
Launch UK is set to attend Automechanika Birmingham 2016, exhibiting its full range of automotive diagnostic tools on stand 10K14 from 7 – 9 June at the NEC in Birmingham. Amongst other products, Launch reports it will present its X431 range of OE level diagnostic equipment to the UK market at the prestigious event.
