Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company is taking steps towards closing a New Zealand tyre plant. The news is part of a series of cost-cutting measures (including European job cuts) that Goodyear is enforcing around the world. Goodyear said the move was “part of its strategy to reduce high-cost manufacturing capacity globally.”
Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company has completed its acquisition of Ansell Ltd’s interest in their South Pacific Tyres (SPT) joint ventures. Goodyear now owns 100 per cent of SPT, the leading tyre marketer and manufacturer in Australia and New Zealand.
The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company said it has reached agreement in principle on the final terms to acquire Ansell Limited’s interest in their South Pacific Tyres (SPT) joint ventures, pending government and other approvals.
Singapore’s Stamford Tyres has published first half 2006 results which show the company is ahead of schedule as far as net profits are concerned. In the six month period ended 31 October the company recorded a 114.3 per cent rise in net profits to S$6.5 million.
SmarTire Systems Inc has launched a new wireless gateway product line that will carry the SmartWave(TM) brand. This SmartWave brand will apply to all products developed under SmarTire’s wireless gateway architecture. Under the SmartWave brand, the company will initially introduce three versions of its tyre pressure and monitoring systems to meet the varying needs of fleet customers.
SmarTire Systems Inc has announced that it has signed a contract with Dana’s Commercial Vehicle Systems group to market and sell SmarTire’s tyre pressure and temperature monitoring systems to the commercial truck, bus and RV markets.
