Vipal Rubber has appointed Frederico Schmidt as its new European general manager. Having previously worked in Vipal’s United States branch after being transferred from the company’s Brazilian headquarters, Schmidt has been with the retreading products manufacturer for 15 years.
Axle Group Holdings, parent company of National Tyres and Autocare and Viking Wholesale Tyres, has appointed two to its digital division, growing its marketing department. James Kelly has been appointed as digital marketing manager, and Jack Underwood as digital marketing executive.
Sailun Jinyu International (SJI) has appointed Gareth Passmore as its president for Europe. He replaces Martin West, who has been appointed global president of the SJI Speciality Tire Group. Passmore will be responsible for all operations throughout Europe of the four brands within the Sailun Jinyu Group portfolio – Sailun, Jinyu, Black Lion and Rovelo. He will join Sailun on 1 December 2016, and be based at the SJI European Operations Centre in Birmingham, after relocating to the UK.
Asa Wirsenius has been appointed as the new people director at Autoglass. The role gives her overall accountability for the development and implementation of the company’s people strategy, Autoglass states. Wirsenius will lead employee engagement and the businesses’ approach to learning and development to boost overall performance of the company. As a member of the executive team she will also share responsibility for the planning and successful execution of overall business and operational strategy.
Giti Tire has appointed Brian McDermott and Daria Sala della Cuna as sales and marketing directors – Europe for passenger car and light truck tyres (PCR) and truck and bus tyres (TBR) respectively. Both directors will work closely with major clients and partners around Europe to increase sales and marketing activities, handle brand strategy, and channel development and product portfolio extensions for the Giti, GT Radial, Primewell and Runway brands, Giti states.
Scotlands Ash Garage has appointed Jordan Montgomery as its new apprentice, with the independent garage laying out plans to invest in the business’ growth. Sailun Tyres (Europe) has appointed Janis Amolins as its business development manager for East Europe. Amolins will be responsible for the sales and development of the Sailun Jinyu Group’s portfolio of four brands for Europe: Sailun, Jinyu, Black Lion and Rovelo. He joins the Sailun team with immediate effect.
Immediately following the announcement of his departure from Nokian, Ari Lehtoranta has been unveiled as the new president and CEO of Caverion Corporation, a supplier of energy-efficient technical solutions for buildings, industries and infrastructure on whose board he has sat since 2013 (as chairman since 2015). He will assume the new position on January 1, 2017.
Netherlands retreader Obo Tyres has appointed Peter Schrijver as its new commercial manager. The company said his appointment would further stimulate the growth of the company. Schrijver starts in his new position at Obo Tyres BV on 1 October, 2016, having worked previously for Apollo Vredestein for 29 years.
Giti Tire has appointed Torsten Gehrmann (45) to the new position of senior managing director – Europe. Confirming the departure of former managing director – Europe Corrado Moglia, Gehrmann said, “we thank Corrado for the work he performed for the company.” Since September 2015 Moglia had split the European MD role with Stefan Fischer following the resignation of Richard Lyons. Fischer will continue in his existing position as managing director – Europe for Product Technology and R&D Centre Europe.
