The International Rubber Study Group (IRSG) has named Professor Joseph Adelegan as its new secretary-general. Professor Adelegan officially took on his new role on 1 December 2022. IRSG describes Professor Adelegan as “a C-Suite Executive and an international development expert”. A Professor of Practice of Environmental Science and Engineering and a practitioner-scholar in management with over three decades of professional experience across 20 African Countries, Europe and United States, his work spans several organizations including the United Nations, development finance institutions, international organizations, government, non-governmental organizations, education, innovation and research institutions.
Liqui Moly’s long-standing commercial director, Dr. Uli Weller, has been appointed joint managing director of the company, alongside Günter Hiermaier. Dr Weller will become the second managing director of the group of companies at the start of 2023.
Halfords has appointed Simon Wherry as delivery director for the group. Simon joins Halfords Senior Leadership Team and the group’s growing IT function. According to the company, Wherry brings experience in business change delivery, underpinned by technology. He joins from management consultancy firm, CapGemini, where he was a programme director working in the defence manufacturing arena.
moveero has appointed Hugo Burgers as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective 1 December 2022. Burgers joined moveero in September 2021 with a senior level background from across the off-highway-industry, including Yokohama Off-Highway Tires, Warn Industries and John Deere.
Zhang Zhentao, deputy general manager of Doublestar, submitted a written resignation application to the board of directors recently. Doublestar confirmed that Zhang Zhentao is not employed by company following his resignation, but did not disclose where he is working now. Zhang Zhentao is mainly engaged in financial work and has served as the deputy general manager of Doublestar since May 2020. Before that, he was part of the financial management of Tsingtao Brewery.
PCL has appointed Lee Wright as managing director to lead the company’s move towards “a more market-driven approach”. Following a thorough recruitment process, supported by external consultants, Wright has taken the helm at the Sheffield-based inflation specialists. Previously, the position was part of Joerg F Mayer’s remit as group managing director at PCL’s parent company, HornGroup Holding.
TyreSafe has appointed Stuart Lovatt as its new chair. Stuart has worked closely with TyreSafe for many years as part of his previous role as Strategic Road Safety Lead at National Highways and brings with him extensive experience in road safety strategy and delivery at the highest level.
Dipankar Ghosh has joined Apollo Tyres as Group Head, Human Resources (HR) for the Asia Pacific, Middle East & Africa (APMEA) region. Dipankar has joined in a regional senior leadership role at Apollo Tyres and will be leading the regional HR team. Ghosh comes with 25 years of diverse experience in leading FMCG, Automobile and Service Industries, in the domain of HR Business Partnering, Strategic Human Resource Initiatives, Talent Assurance, Policy Making and Employee Relations.
Sinochem Holdings recently announced that Ning Gaoning will no longer serve as chairman and party secretary. Li Fanrong became the new top leader of the large state-owned enterprise. The reason? According to industry insiders, Ning Gaoning is about to turn 64 years old and therefore his departure is probably best categorised as official retirement. It is reported that under normal circumstances, the retirement age of the top leaders of China’s central enterprises is 63 years old. From this perspective, Ning Gaoning has already out-worked normal tenure.
Veronique Giraud recently succeeded Dalibor Kalina as general manager of Continental Tires (China). Effective August 2022, Giraud will lead the tyre manufacturer’s business development and strategic direction in the Chinese market.
Ákos Barcsik is the new deputy general manager of ZC Rubber Europe. In this role, he will oversee ZC Rubber sales in Europe as well as the development of TBR products for the European market.
Diagnostics specialists Launch Tech UK has appointed Mike Carter as technical manager. As the new Technical Manager, Carter’s role will involve providing technical support and demonstrations to customers, sales support and producing content for YouTube as Launch Tech UK continues to develop its digital strategy.
Having joined the company in August 2021, Point S Tyre & Autocare has appointed Tony Valentine as fleet manager. Up till now, Valentine has been a business development manager for the network. From here on he takes responsibility for establishing and growing Point S’ presence in the fleet market. This will involve building close relationships with fleet managers and working closely with Point S members to develop “the network’s one-stop shop for fleet service, repair and maintenance”.
On 27 July 2022, Toyo Tire Corporation promoted one of its environmental health staff to the role of general manager of that division.
