Taiwanese tyre manufacturer Cheng Shin Rubber has re-elected its board of directors. Chen Yun-Hwa continues as chairman of the tyre maker and Lo Tsai-Jen succedes Chen Shiu-Hsiung as vice chairman. Other members of the board of directors include Chen Shiu-Hsiung, Tseng Sung-Chu, Lee Chin-Chang, Lo Yuan-Long, Chen Han-Chi and Wu Hsuan-Miao. In addition, Lo Tsai-Jen’s son Lo Yuan-Long succeeded Huang Chung-Jen as the new director. Tseng, Sung-Ling’s directorship was replaced by his cousin Tseng Sung-Chu.
Connected mobility company Targa Telematics has appointed Henning Wiefelspuetz as its head of OEM business integration. Wiefelspuetz will report directly to Alberto Falcione, VP sales, and will be responsible for Targa Telematics’ strategy, which aims to develop relationships and business with the OEM ecosystem in the connected car sector. Data collection and homogenisation to increase its usability across platforms is seen as the key to unlocking increasingly sophisticated systems in the developing future mobility segment.
Recently, two vice presidents of Sailun, Zhou Tianming and Zhu Xiaobing, resigned from their positions due to work adjustments. The two will continue to hold other jobs in Sailun. On 12 June, Sailun held a board meeting and appointed Zhang Xiaojun and Sun Guangqing as vice presidents.
Effective May 2023, Francesco Motta is the new Chief Executive Officer of Marangoni Meccanica. Motta brings nearly 30 years of experience in various strategic roles within the machinery, mechanical systems and automation solutions industries. Motta holds an MBA from China Europe International Business School, and a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Politecnico di Torino University.
Vaculug has appointed Darren Lea as its new OTR sales manager. Lea joins the off the road tyre team with the Lincolnshire tyre retreading and distribution firm’s specialist division celebrating “double-digit growth” and a record start to 2023. It states that several new contract wins have ushered in “major growth in the off the road (OTR) tyre sector.”
Banner batteries has appointed Matthew Evans as Business Development Manager (BDM) for the South West and Ireland. Reporting directly to country manager, Lee Quinney, Evans will be responsible for targeting Banner’s growing customer base of motor factors, garages, independent distributors and other specialist automotive parts outlets.
At the start of April, Richard Lyons became executive managing director of Kumho Tyre UK. Lyons joins the company after roughly seven years with Trelleborg Wheel Systems in a variety of roles, latterly as managing director UK and Ireland. Before that, Lyons spent around 11 years with Giti where he oversaw significant growth at the company and rose to the role of managing director Europe and director – International sales and marketing, passenger car.
After more than 25 years with Continental, Prof. Dr. Burkhard Wies has, in his own words, taken on “a new job”. He is still in the service of the same tyre manufacturer, but was appointed to the position of Vice President Innovation & Applied Research effective the beginning of the year.
Continental has appointed Teck Seng Chew as product manager for the port operation business in Continental Specialty Tires. The new role will see Chew “drive forward the strategic development of the port operation business and act as an interface to research and development, sales, quality management and customer service”, according to a company statement.
Apollo Tyres has appointed Bruno De Langhe as its new country sales manager for the Belux region. He will succeed Antoine de Grand Ry, who has retired after more than 30 years at the company. De Langhe joined Apollo Tyres in 2022 as an account manager for passenger car tyres in Belgium. Since then, he has been responsible for boosting brand awareness and sales in the Belux region.
The Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd. has appointed Yoshikuni Nakamura as Member of the Board and Managing Officer, Head of Tire Business Planning Div., in charge of Tire Overseas Sales & Marketing Div., in charge of Corporate Social Responsibility Div., in charge of Tire Logistics Div.
Point S Tyre & Autocare has appointed Ben Herridge as business development manager. Herridge’s new role will see him help drive network growth and member development in the South West/South Wales region.
On 17 March, Linglong Tire announced that it hired Yu Hang as its vice president. The tyre manufacturer stated that the appointment of Yu Hang is to enhance Linglong’s brand value and competitiveness, optimise and improve its “product + service + value” system, build a world-class brand influence, and enhance Linglong’s international competitiveness.
Mahle Aftermarket has promoted its UK general manager Andy Lees within its senior leadership team, in a combined role that will see him lead aftermarket operations in western Europe. While Lees’ responsibilities expand with his promotion to head of Western Europe Aftermarket (MESW), he will remain in his role as UK general manager, overseeing relationships with valued customers across the country and guide the company’s UK aftermarket strategy.
