Michelin appoints Guy Heywood as UK head
Michelin’s UK’s Guy Heywood, has been appointed as commercial director for the well-known tyremaker in the UK and Republic of Ireland. Heywood has been commercial director Truck – UK & ROI since since 2012.

The Petrol Retailers Association (PRA) has announced that Brian Madderson has agreed to continue his role as Chairman of the Association, following a meeting with PRA Executive Committee.
Madderson comments, “Since 2010, the PRA has retained 90 per cent of the top 50 independent petrol retailers in membership, with sites numbering ing over 3,000. Regional committees have been established in both Northern Ireland and Scotland, and we have formed positive relations with key government officials and politicians in all four home countries.
SD-International (SDI) has appointed Steve Tidmarsh as general manager. Tidmarsh brings over 35 years of experience to the Shanghai-based contract tyre manufacturer.
Tidmarsh’s experience includes 25 years at Goodyear Dunlop, culminating as sales and marketing director of both the consumer and commercial sectors. He has also held the position of financial director with Hi-Q Tyre Services as well as six years as managing director of Kumho UK, becoming the first non-South Korean to hold this title.
JK Tyre & Industries Ltd has appointed Vivek Kamra as its president – India. The news follows Arun K Bajoria’s promotion to the role of ‘director and president – international operations’. Bringing with him 20 years’ experience, Bajoria will be leading JK Tyre’s international operations including JK Tornel, Mexico and special “strategic assignments”.
The Carlstar Group appointed Laren Harmon as executive vice president of sales on 30 March. Harmon reports to chief executive officer John Salvatore and “will lead the implementation of global growth strategies and emphasize customer satisfaction”, according to the firm. In addition, Harmon will oversee the US tyre and wheel sales organization as well as customer service.
Sentury Tire brand Landsail has appointed Leigh Melling as its new UK brand manager. Peter Cross, representing Landsail, said: “We’re looking forward to working with Leigh to keep driving the Landsail brand forward. We’re continually looking to develop our dealer offer and sales strategies and the vision and skills Leigh brings will be integral to this.”
Shingo Sakashita, 46, has been appointed finance director Falken Tyre Europe, the European affiliate of Japanese tyre manufacturer Sumitomo Rubber Industries. Sakashita joins the management team in Offenbach am Main (Germany), assuming the position of finance director, alongside Isamu Ishida, Koji Fukuhara and Hidekazu Nishiguchi.
CAM has announced the appointment of Will Matthews as technical solutions manager. Matthews has more than a decade of technical and managerial experience in high-pressure environments, and will enhance the company’s problem solving expertise and further develop its technology platforms and solutions, CAM stated.
Kings Road Tyres (KRT) has appointed Fred Carroll as its new senior sales executive for Ireland, based at its Dublin sales and distribution centre. His recruitment represents a restructuring of the distributor’s sales operation in Ireland, reflecting a renewed focus on growing sales in the country. Carroll, 41, brings more than 18 years tyre industry experience to his new position, joining from a similar role with Mileage Tyres. Prior to that, he worked with Kirkby Tyres in Dublin and KwikFit in both Athlone and Dublin.
Dr Ariane Reinhart (44) assumed her post as Executive Board Member for Human Resources at Continental AG today (1 October), raising the company’s executive board to nine members. The supervisory board of automotive supplier/tyre manufacturer appointed Dr. Reinhart during a meeting on 25 April 2014. Her contract runs for three years.
Grouptyre has appointed Karl Naylor as Managing Director following the departure of Peter Harries, who has left to take up a key opportunity elsewhere within the tyre industry. During 14 months with Grouptyre, Harries has worked on processes designed to build upon the company’s leading role in the tyre wholesaling industry. In this period Grouptyre has enjoyed sales growth of over 15 per cent.
