Richard Lyons has become Trelleborg wheel system’s industrial and construction general manager for the North Europe region. The latest move follows Lyons’ appointment as managing director of Trelleborg Wheel Systems UK operations and its Interfit fitting and fleet service business, which took place back in April 2016.

Omsk Carbon USA LLC has appointed Piotr Pawlicki as its new manager. According to the company, Pawlicki’s main responsibility will be increasing sales in conjunction and improving customer service for Omsk Carbon Group customers in the North America. Six months after Katsumi Komaguchi became chairman and representative director of Toyo Tire & Rubber in December 2015, the Japanese tyre manufacturer has announced his resignation of both roles. In an extremely short and perfunctory statement, Toyo wrote that his resignation is effective immediately (from 27 May 2016) and is described as a “personal matter”.
Magna Tyres Group has appointed Christophe Cantou as sales manager for the region South France. Cantou has over 15 years of sales experience in the tyre industry and has worked for various well-known tyre companies. There could be as many as 5,000 job vacancies in the UK automotive industry due to a skills shortage affecting the sector, according to a new report published by the Automotive Council.
The report, which was developed by automotive industry consultants SMMT Industry Forum on behalf of the Automotive Industrial Partnership, surveys a range of British-based automotive firms, from vehicle manufacturers to component suppliers, to identify the areas of employment most difficult to recruit, and provide an important means for industry and government to tackle the skills issue. Around 19 per cent of the unfilled vacancies cited in the report are identified as ‘critical’ and having a significant impact on company operations.
