A survey commissioned by Apollo Tyres has found that only six per cent of motorists in the UK are able to correctly identify a tyre’s load rating. Worse still, it turns out we’re only half as good at accomplishing this task as the Germans are. Thankfully, younger Brits give hope that this may change in future.
Apollo Tyres (UK) Holdings Ltd, a subsidiary of Apollo Tyres Ltd, has been recognised as one of the Top Employers in the UK. The certification, awarded by the Top Employer Institute, a global authority on HR excellence, was based on an in-depth survey of Apollo Tyres Ltd’s London staff. The firm has an annual revenue of $2.8 billion. Its London team work in areas such as finance, digital and US trade growth.
Following a three-stage validation process that began in August 2022, auditors from TÜV SÜD have granted Apollo Tyres ISO 20400:2017 for its raw material procurement process. The tyre maker notes that it is the “first company in the Indian automotive sector” to gain this certification.
The Vredestein tyre brand is to become an Official Sponsor of the 2023 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships, which will take place in Courchevel Méribel, France, between 6 and 19 February 2023. Apollo Tyres, owner of the Vredestein brand, signed the sponsorship deal to “help drive awareness of the award-winning Vredestein winter and all-season tyre ranges.”
Apollo Tyres Ltd and the Telangana Government have agreed to open a Digital Innovation Centre in Hyderabad. The two parties signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to that effect after a meeting between the two parties during the World Economic Forum at Davos. The planned Hyderabad location is Apollo Tyres’s second Digital Innovation Centre. The first is in London.
Apollo Tyres has appointed Shobhit Arora as its new Country Sales Manager for the UK. He brings over 14 years of experience at Apollo Tyres to the role, having begun his career as a Graduate Engineer Trainee for the company in India in 2008. Since then, Arora has worked across many areas of the business in India and Europe, most recently as Distribution and Business Development Manager at Apollo Tyres’ European headquarters in the Netherlands.

Apollo Tyres has opened a new Advanced Tyre Testing facility within its Global R&D Centre, Asia in Chennai, India. The new test centre features a Flat-trac machine and an anechoic chamber, which help define the dynamics and acoustics of tyres, leading to faster product development for both OE and replacement markets. The development of tyres for high-end passenger vehicles, EV specific tyres for passenger vehicles and high-end motorcycle tyres will be at the heart of work taking place within the new facility.
Following two successful years in the FIA European Truck Racing Championship (FIA ETRC) with TOR Truck Racing, Apollo Tyres has signed a new two-year lead sponsorship deal with SL Trucksport 30.

At the end of the second quarter ended 30 September 2022, Apollo Tyres Ltd reported double-digit increases in sales and profitability that point to even great performance in the first-half of the company’s current financial year. And the data shows that company’s European operations are at the forefront of leading the company’s strong performance.

Europe’s first dedicated all-season electric vehicle tyre will arrive next month, with Apollo Tyres promising a “range of advanced design features and materials.” Developed specifically for year-round use by battery electric vehicles and hybrids, Apollo has created the tyre to deliver greater driving range while providing superior levels of grip and traction in all conditions – including ice and snow.
According to Dr Sawar Dhanania, chairman of the Government of India’s Rubber Board, natural rubber production within the country “will not be sufficient to meet the consumer industry’s demands” in coming years. He thus sees an “urgent need” to increase the area under rubber cultivation, something that tyre makers are helping to achieve via the NE-MITRA project.
