Aluminium wheel manufacturer Superior Industries International, Inc. reports shipping 5.5 million units in the first quarter of 2018, a 94.8 per cent increase compared with the first three months of last year. This sizeable improvement was primarily due to the inclusion of the company’s European operation in this year’s results but was also driven by higher unit shipments in North America.
On 19 February 2018, Maxion Wheels will hold a groundbreaking ceremony for its new light vehicle aluminium wheel plant in India. Preparations for the facility have already commenced with the acquisition of a plant site in Pune (Maharashtra state) as well as the formation of a new legal entity, Maxion Wheels Aluminum India Private Limited. This company came into being on 8 January.

MWheels and wheel manufacturing giant Wheels India (WIL) have signed a new five-year exclusive European distribution agreement for Xlite and Xbrite forged aluminium wheels. The contract continues a relationship that started in the 1940s with classic car wire wheels, and which progressed into steel commercial vehicle wheels in the 1980s and forged aluminium CV wheels in 2010.

Arconic has announced that its Alcoa forged aluminium wheels have received a quality achievement award from PACCAR for meeting or exceeding stringent 10 parts per million (PPM) quality performance requirements. Arconic achieved 0 PPM in 2016 for deliveries to DAF, a subsidiary of PACCAR, reflecting excellence in every step of the manufacturing process, forging to finishing to packaging.
Second quarter results for aluminium wheel manufacturer Superior Industries International, Inc. show both record unit shipments and a net loss. These results for the quarter to 25 June 2017 also include one month of results from Uniwheels AG, in which Superior acquired a major shareholding on 30 May 2017. Upon tomorrow’s settlement of the delisting tender offer, Superior will own approximately 93.2 per cent of Uniwheels’ common stock shares.
Aluminium wheel company Superior Industries International, Inc. now holds a 92.3 per cent shareholding in Uniwheels AG after concluding its tender offer for an aggregate consideration of US$714.7 million. This offer was financed through approximately $670 million of newly funded debt, as well as $150 million of Preferred Equity.
Distributor of Xlite and Xlite+ forged aluminium wheels, Motor Wheel Service Distribution (MWSD) has rebranded as MWheels. The move positions the distributor’s European operations under one banner, having established a German company with the MWheels name at the beginning of the year. The new name is in full effect from Monday 22 May 2017, with the name and logo immediately visible on its reworked website, marketing literature and communications. The new corporate identity will be introduced across all product packaging over the coming months. The logo will also replace the Chevron as MWheels’ quality stamp on its steel, Xlite and Xbrite+ forged aluminium wheels.
The new Borbet factory in Saxony, Germany is visible from afar – hardly surprising when bearing in mind that the plant’s floorspace sprawls over five entire hectares. The factory is located on a 12.3-hectare site near Görlitz, around four miles from the Polish border, and there is a good reason for building big: Saxony is an automotive stronghold, home to several major German vehicle manufacturers.
All cars competing in the DTM in 2017, starting at Hockenheim this coming weekend, won’t just ride on a new Hankook tyre. As of this year, the entire field will race on ATS forged aluminium rims. Wheel manufacturer Uniwheels developed the 12×18 front and 13×18 rear rims specifically for the German touring car championship, and with this supply arrangement, ATS becomes an official DTM series industry partner.
