Mizati Plans More Wheel Lots Stores

(Akron/Tire Review) Mizati Luxury Alloy Wheels said it plans to open its second Wheel Lots retail store somewhere in the Los Angeles area, and has plans for as many as eight stores in the area. “Initially we were focusing on the Inland Empire area. However, since this October when we launched our radio campaign, we realized that in order to assist our customers after they made purchases, we would like to have the second Wheel Lots store cover a different part of the city,” Mizati CEO Hazel Chu said. “With this scenario, both geographic areas will be covered by at least one location for the installation of customers’ purchases, and in 2008, we will have six to eight stores opened between Inland Empire and the greater Los Angeles area,” Chu added.

Hunter’s TCX550 automatic swing-arm changer includes operational features familiar to most technicians and a Bead Press System to help easily service difficult run-flats or low-profile tyres mounted on large or oversize alloy wheels. Alloy Wheel Repair System Proving Popular

Yorkshire based manufacturer of smart repair systems, Ayce Systems, states that the company’s new all-in-one alloy wheel repair kit has experienced dramatic sales growth since its introduction last year. Known as Wheelrite Pro, the system is a self-contained unit for repairing and polishing kerbed, scratched and corroded alloy wheels, and features pneumatic self-centring on a rotary turntable, an integral beadbreaker, tyre inflation and pressure gauge and independent drive for grinding and polishing wheels.

New 21″ BRABUS Monoblock E Light-Alloy Wheels

BRABUS has introduced its new, 21″ Monoblock E light-alloy wheel for the latest Mercedes S-Class. This exclusive, sporty wheel design with nine strikingly-shaped spokes and polished drop centre was custom-developed for the top-of-the-line Mercedes. The new BRABUS Monoblock E wheels can be mounted on the luxury sedan in sizes 9Jx21 on the front and in size 10.5Jx21 on the rear axle.

New Wheels from MAK

Italian manufacturer MAK has introduced two new alloy wheels. The first of these – the Veleno – is described by MAK as “our key wheel for 2006.” Veleno has 10 slender spokes and a sporty appearance, plus the open design means that almost the entire braking system of the car is visible behind the wheel, adding to the high performance image. The minimalist design is matched by the wheel’s lightness; an 18″ Veleno weighs only 10.7kg, compared with the more usual weight of nearly 14kg.

To some of his competitors Derek Zhang is known as the “godfather” of the aluminium wheel business in China. He has been dubbed with this moniker in appreciation of the rapid development of the China Wheel, which he leads as CEO, and his deep knowledge of the competitive situation in the enormous People’s Republic.

At the moment there are about 200(!) different producers in the country. Some are so small that they are liable to disappear from the map, or have already been forced to cut production. Zhang expects a large consolidation wave, whereby the capacities of the smaller companies are taken only partially from the market; many will be absorbed by the larger players.

New Alloy Wheels Business Starts Up in Slough

New start-up business, Chromes Ltd, will specialise in supplying trade and private customers with the latest designs in alloy and chrome wheels – in rim sizes ranging from 15 to 26 inch diameter. The company’s showroom at 406 Montrose Avenue has more than 50 new designs on display.

New UK Distributor For Toora Alloy Wheels

Toora, the Italian alloy wheel manufacturer, has announced that its new UK distributor is to be Exclusive Tuning & Design. Established in 1993, Toora have modern facilities based in Bergamo, and have a range of popular designs which have sold well throughout the UK.

Exclusive Tuning are based in Exeter and have a management team with decades of experience in the UK’s aftermarket industry. Paul Normington of Exclusive Tuning said: “We are delighted to have been selected by Toora to supply their well designed range of wheels. We will be holding large stock levels to ensure we can cope with the strong demand.”

MWS Launches Forged Aluminium CV Wheel

Motor Wheel Service Group launched a full range of forged alloy wheels at the recent Commercial Vehicle/Automotive Trade Show. According to the company, the new forged alloy wheels are exclusive to the MWS Group and will increase the range of wheels already stocked by the company. MWS is remaining tight lipped about which company is responsible and where the new wheels are being produced, but was keen to point out that the MWS forged alloy range will include both polished and machine-finished wheels and will be available through the company’s MWS Wheel Systems (OEM source) and MWS Aftermarket divisions.

Work Presents Two New Alloys

Work has presented two new three piece Rezax II alloy wheels. Offering a design with ten Y-spokes, the wheel features a forged rim spider and is optionally available with a forged RoundRim (18 to 20 inch) or flat-base rim. The wheels are available for almost all standard makes of vehicle. Special runs, without minimum production numbers, are also possible. The 21 inch and 22 inch sizes are designed for high wheel loads and, as such, are also suitable for SUVs.

Motor Industry Awarded for ABS

The motor industry has been presented with What Car? magazine’s 2005 readers award, for the voluntary fitting of Anti-lock Braking Systems (ABS) as standard. Christopher Macgowan, chief executive of the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders, collected the award yesterday on behalf of the industry.

Readers voted for initiatives delivered in the past year that made their lives safer, easier or cheaper. The magazine’s editor David Motton said: “Previously, buyers were more likely to spend money on optional extras such as alloy wheels or air-con rather than ABS. Now they no longer have to make that choice and lives will be saved as a result.”
