Hankook Vantra tyre range targets efficiency, safety and durability for light commercial vehicles

Hankook’s tyre range for the light commercial vehicle sector is produced under the Vantra product name. These tyres, targeting single van operators and large fleet operators alike, are designed to optimise the performance of vans in the most common applications. Tyres for the LCV market need to be able to cope with the additional weight and withstand the strain of stop-start urban trips as well as longer journeys, reflecting the variety of conditions in which they operate, delivering essential services from local to national levels. Hankook’s portfolio for the van and light truck category include the Vantra LT, an energy efficient, safe and exceptionally durable summer tyre; and the more recently added Vantra ST AS 2, a durable, multi-performance, all-season tyre.

Vredestein launching next-generation all-season UHP tyre

Through its premium Vredestein passenger car brand, Apollo Tyres offers one of the largest portfolios of high-performance tyres in Europe, including all-season, winter and summer options. The current includes the Quatrac Pro and Quatrac Pro EV for all-season, the Wintrac Pro for winter and the Ultrac Vorti+ and Vorti R+ for summer. Yves Pouliquen, group head of sales and marketing at Apollo Tyres, shares that this month the company confirmed details of the all-new Vredestein Quatrac Pro+, a dedicated all-season tyre for high-performance cars and SUVs, which will be available later this year.

Improved efficiency & safety: Continental debuts AllSeasonContact 2

Continental has launched a successor to its AllSeasonContact and says the new tyre not only delivers improved safety compared to the first-generation product, it is also capable of driving for an additional season. AllSeasonContact 2 will arrive at UK dealers and retailers from July.

Prinx car tyre brand makes European debut in Milan

Prinx Chengshan’s flagship tyre brand has entered the European market in style at a lavish event in Milan, Italy. Hosting tyre distributors and dealers from all around Europe the brand chose the European fashion capital as its launchpad to signify its bullish expectations for the new range, which arrives offering fitments for a comprehensive range of applications, premiumised technologies, and a European marketing strategy openly setting mid-range-plus targets from the off. During a day of driving workshops at Alfa Romeo’s historic La Pista circuit, Tyres & Accessories was able to trial two Prinx tyres fitted to Tesla Models 3 and Y, and Mercedes AMG A Class hatchback and SUV models: the Xnex Sport EV UHP tyre designed for electric vehicle compatibility, and the Quattura 4S all-season tyre. T&A also spoke to several representatives from the brand’s European team about its new products and aspiration to make its mark on the European tyre segment. Continental debuts AllSeasonContact 2

Continental presented its second generation all-season tyre at an event in Austria. Tyrepress was there and will report on this at a later date, but the headline is generational performance improvements in almost all areas. AllSeasonContact 2 comes to market in a launch range of 99 sizes and will be available in the UK from July.

VW chooses Goodyear as ID. Buzz supplier.

Goodyear has come on board as an original equipment tyre supplier to the Volkswagen ID. Buzz and transport version ID. Buzz Cargo. VW operations in regional and national markets have the option of offering customers tyres from the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5, UltraGrip Performance+ or Vector 4Seasons Gen-3 ranges as standard.

Bridgestone addressing growing all-season demand with Turanza All Season 6

Bridgestone has extended its Turanza tyre portfolio into the all-season segment with the launch of the Bridgestone Turanza All Season 6. This successor to the Weather Control A005 EVO is designed for electric and ICE vehicles and will be available in 85 car and SUV sizes for 16- to 21-inch rims, a range covering 96% of high-rim demand in the touring all-season segment.

Prinx addresses all-season demand with Quattura 4S

In addition to two tyres specifically designed for electric vehicles, the first products to arrive in the new Prinx range for Europe include a tyre for the increasingly popular all-season segment. Prinx Chengshan Tire Europe says Prinx Quattura 4S is a “high-performance all-season tyre for petrol and diesel vehicles” that has “earned its (3PMSF) snowflake.” It therefore “delivers excellent safety performance even in difficult weather conditions.”

Falken targets UHP market with latest all-season tyre

A new tyre has joined the Falken Euroall Season line-up, and Falken Tyre Europe tells us that this product is “designed specifically for high-performance vehicles,” with development focusing on “good all-round winter performance.” The Falken Euroall Season AS220 Pro is available in a range of 46 dimensions.

‘Smart & sustainable’ – Sailun debuts Atrezzo 4Seasons Pro

Saliun Group Europe has introduced several new tyres featuring its EcoPoint3 liquid-phase mixing technology. One of these products is the Sailun Atrezzo 4Seasons Pro, and the manufacturer says that thanks to EcoPoint 3 this tyre “sets new standards.”

Yokohama Avid S34 tyres OE on new Subaru Impreza in North America

Yokohama has begun delivering its Avid S34 tyre in size P225/40R18 88V to Subaru for fitment on the new Impreza. The North American all-season tyre features the mud and snow (M+S) marking on the sidewall. It features a wide tread that ensures a larger contact area, providing stable driving performance on both dry and snow-covered roads. Its tread pattern incorporates a large number of grooves that grip snow road surfaces, improving traction and safety. It also has an improved structure to increase stability.

Cross-sectionality: Volvo’s XC40 and the intersection of 4×4, SUV and electric vehicle-specific tyres

For years the rise in prominence and market share of high-value and high-margin SUV and 4×4 tyres has continued unabated. During that time the boundaries between cross-over vehicles (CUV), sports utility vehicles (SUV) and 4x4s have been well and truly blurred. Now, with electric drivetrain technology coming to the fore as well, and with some tyre manufacturers making the case for specific electric vehicle-orientated tyres, is a new ultra-high value combined niche emerging? And if so, what does such intersectionality, or perhaps more appropriately since we are talking about tyres cross-sectionality, mean for the wider tyres business?

Falken OE on North American Mazda CX-90

Don’t look for it on UK roads, but motorists in selected regions will soon add the Mazda CX-90 to their large crossover SUV portfolios. The CX-90 will arrive in North America first, and when it does it will be available with Falken Ziex CT60A AS all-season tyres as original equipment.

Virtual prototyping delivers numerous benefits to Vredestein Quatrac Pro EV

Specifically, the manufacturer sheds light on tyre development using its state-of-the-art virtual prototyping and simulation platform and how this helped to “dramatically reduce time-to-market as well as the product’s environmental impact and development costs.”

New warehouse for Nokian Tyres’ USA plant

Nokian Tyres has begun construction work on a finished goods warehouse at the Dayton, Tennessee production site where it is currently doubling production capacity for all-season and all-weather tyres and adding light truck tyres to the product mix. The warehouse will hold as many as 600,000 tyres and should be ready for use by mid-2024.
