Trelleborg has been named as the official partner of AGCO’s Future Farm project. Launched with a ceremony in Lusaka in Zambia, on 27 May, AGCO’s Future Farm aims to develop a sustainable food production system and increase farming output by utilising Africa’s agricultural resources more effectively.
Trelleborg has launched its European Road Show 2015 at SIMA 2015, with one-day events planned in Italy, Sweden, Germany, Poland, France, Spain and the UK. The manufacturer says the roadshow will provide multiple field demonstrations of how farming professionals can enhance their operations and protect the future of their businesses. Trelleborg’s ‘Blue Box’ interactive mobile stand will also provide visitors with information about its range of digital tools.

Trelleborg’s ProgressiveTraction agricultural tyre technology will be honoured with a FinOvation Award during the US Farm Machinery show. The striking “stepped” double lug was introduced to European acclaim in 2013. It is designed to homogenise the transmission of force, leading to improved traction and longevity in the field. Farm Machinery will take place from 11 to 14 February in Louisville, Kentucky.
Liverpool wholesaler Kirkby Tyres, a market leader in the UK agricultural tyre sector, has recently expanded, purchasing a further three acres adjacent to its site for the expansion of warehousing and logistics. The company now has nearly 10 acres at its HQ; the latest development represented significant growth. “Support from our key suppliers is enabling Kirkby to expand in the OE and aftermarket within the UK and Ireland,” MD Dave Dorrity told Tyres & Accessories. The wholesaler supplies Alliance, BKT and Malhotra brand tyres to the segment, as well as becoming the exclusive Trelleborg wholesaler for the UK last year. Ahead of LAMMA, Dorrity gave T&A a rundown of current activities with its major brands, as well as detailing a new deal with Linglong.
A major UK wholesalers in the agricultural tyre segment, RH Claydon will exhibit at LAMMA in late January with 62 years’ experience behind them. The company boasts a wide range of brands and fitments to meet the needs and requirements of the sector; sales and marketing director, John Parker said, “the agricultural or (off-highway) market is what we do best and is definitely the area that the industry judges to be our core sphere of expertise.”

The wholesaler, which specialises in agricultural and industrial tyres will present exclusive brands such as Taurus and Maxam as highlights of KRT’s product offer first to dedicated farming and agricultural customers at Lamma, 21-22 January, East of England Showground, Peterborough. Lamma is the UK’s largest farm machinery, equipment and agricultural services show, which attracts upwards of 40,000 visitors.

The agricultural tyre market appears particularly well suited towards specialised manufacturers; Trelleborg Wheel Systems acquired Pirelli’s agricultural business in 1999, with the branding switched between 2006 and 2010. Since acquiring various technologies from Pirelli, the Trelleborg Group has invested heavily in order to make its tyre and wheel operation a premium brand player in the agricultural and forestry tyre market. The Tivoli facility, with its buildings showing a manufacturing history dating back to the 1940s, but also incorporating the latest agricultural tyre building machinery, represents “a history full of innovation for farming professionals,” in president of the Agricultural and Forestry Tyres business unit, Paolo Pompei’s words.
Staff from the Michelin Training Centre in Stoke-on-Trent recently held their third agricultural tyre fitting course in Scotland in just over 12 months, following unprecedented demand from local dealers.
Mitas will be showing one of the largest agricultural tyres in the world at the Fendt Field Day in Wadenbrunn, on August 27th. On this occasion a new Fendt 211 Vario will be equipped with Mitas AC65 and exhibited at the Fendt technology pavilion.
