Firestone’s agricultural Tyre Pressure Calculator app for iPhone has reportedly stormed to 10,000 downloads, confirming demand from farmers for this information to reduce soil compaction and maximise successful germination.

Petlas Tire Corporation, which is known for producing the Petlas and Starmaxx brands, has announced that it has made substantial investments into expanding the agricultural radial tyre production capacity of its manufacturing plant. According to the company, the move reflects growing demand for Petlas and Starmaxx tyres from the European and North American agricultural markets. As a result of the expansion Petlas reports that it reached a annual capacity of 300,000 radial agricultural tyres – double previous levels – as of December 2012.
Having recently introduced an agricultural radial tyre range, Infinity Tyres reports that the latest addition to its widening portfolio incorporates tyres suited for the latest advancements for modern agricultural machinery. Infinity agricultural tyres are already available in the UK market and the company formally announced that the tyres can be purchased from Somerset-based Europa Tyres.
Kings Road Tyres (KRT) has announced that it will open its 2013 programme of trade show and exhibition appearances at the two-day LAMMA show in Newark, Nottingham, on 16 and 17 January.
Former Nokian Heavy Tyres marketing manager Perttu Mäkinen has been appointed by Mitas as its country manager for the Nordic region. Mäkinen will operate from the Mitas a.s. headquarters in Tampere, Finland, and his responsibilities will include sales and marketing for Mitas and Continental agricultural and other off-road tyres in Finland, Sweden and Norway.
Firestone is presenting its latest agricultural tyre innovations at the EIMA 2012 agricultural fair in Bologna between 7-11 November. The brand says its 201sqm stand (Hall 36, A11) presents the three pillars of Firestone’s business approach to the agricultural industry: its tyre innovations, Agri Point, the Europewide network of agricultural tyre service professionals, and E-tools to “make the farmer’s life easier”, such as its new tyre pressure smart-phone application.
Trelleborg is launching three apps aimed to help farming professionals and tyre specialists get the most out of their agricultural and forestry tyres. According to the company, Trelleborg’s new Tire Book and Tire iBrochure apps are specially designed for tyre and machinery dealers. In addition, there is the Trelleborg Load Calculator app, which is designed to calculate load per axle according to a tractor’s configuration. The latest version of this includes the ability to recommend the optimum pressure for the selected application.
Trelleborg is showing its latest high performance tyres at the EIMA 2012 agricultural exhibition in Bologna, Italy, which runs from 7-11 November. The IF 900/60R42 TM1000 High Power, which will be mounted on the new Trelleborg THK 30×42 inch rim; a 30 inch rim on 42 inch diameter roll-formed in one piece, will take centre stage.

In the past government-backed public sector contracts were seen as the safest business commitments around. With the economic environment being what it is, it is easy to see the attraction of securing business that you know will be paid for. However, with the finances of various European governments looking less stable than they have been for a long time, and with ministries such as the Department for Transport suffering from poor handling of rail bids such as the West Coast franchise, these types of contracts may not be the stereotypical cash cows they were once depicted as. According to the results of the inspection audit conducted by Republican Certification Methodology Center "TestTatarstan" (OS IMS TatSert, Kazan), the plant’s environmental management system was recognised to be in compliance with the requirements of GOST R ISO 140012007.
