Michelin says Flawborough Farms is “getting the best” from its next-generation Horsch sprayer after switching the original equipment fitments for a set of its AxioBib 2 tyres. The family-run business in Nottinghamshire took delivery of the UK’s first Horsch Leeb 8.300 PT last summer. The sprayer arrived as a prototype from Horsch’s headquarters in Germany fitted with a competitor’s rubber, but Flawborough Farms has since switched to Michelin VF 650/85 R42 AxioBib 2 183D tyres.
In September 2019, Tyrepress.com broke the news that Yokohama is set to buy the ex-Pirelli industrial tyre business Prometeon. Back then, we reported that the deal was at an advanced stage and could be completed before the end of 2019. That clearly didn’t happen, but the deal is still live and the latest news is that it is nearing completion, but now also involves Aeolus Tyres.
Bridgestone says it is “sowing the seeds for a busy season of sales amongst farmers and contractors, following what it describes as its “best ever” showing at LAMMA. Agriculture sales manager Stephen Lamb and his team presented the features of the manufacturer’s premium VT-Tractor range. With spring drilling planned for the coming weeks and months, and the UK’s wet weather causing headaches, the VT range offsets the worst that these elements can throw at farmers as it can operate at lower inflation pressures. With much larger footprints, the wettest and boggiest of land is still protected as a result.

Agricultural contractor RM Simpson is to fit Michelin XeoBib tyres across all its tractors. The Bradford farming company specified VF 710/60 R38 and VF 600/60 R28 Michelin XeoBib tyres as original equipment on its John Deere 6930 in 2009. The first set completed 9,500 hours before needing to be replaced, with the second set to last longer.
Alliance tyres – you’ll find them where even mountain goats don’t dare to tread. Together with German distributor Bohnenkamp, ATG has helped its tyres reach new heights by sponsoring an expedition upon the highest active volcano in the world, Ojos del Salado. The expedition team, driving Mercedes-Benz Unimog U5023 trucks fitted with Alliance tyres, reached an altitude of 6,694 metres during their quest to install life-saving solar-powered emergency radio communication systems in high mountain shelters. This feat broke the previous truck and car altitude records.
