We’ve emerged from lockdown into a market environment of rising raw material prices, a global imbalance of containers and exploding shipping costs, not to mention continuing port disruptions. These combined factors have already led to higher tyre prices and product shortages in some instances, but the extent to which customers are affected can be tempered by good stock management.
Trelleborg Wheel Systems has taken steps to expand its stock and warehousing operation in Lydney, Gloucestershire in order to offer faster shipping across the UK. According to the company, the site previously only held Trelleborg’s range of material handling and earthmover tyres. Now it houses the Trelleborg’s entire range of agricultural tyres, allowing the company to store twice as many products and offer immediate delivery on a wider variety than ever before.
A spectacular array of vintage tractors will take to the road in Scotland this coming weekend in aid of cancer charities as the Mearns Vintage Vehicle Club will be staging a Tractor Run from Laurencekirk to Brechin on Sunday, July 18. The run will start from road haulage and transport business Douglas Mitchell Limited in Laurencekirk at 9.30am and a convoy of around 60 tractors will make its way to the Brechin depot of leading Scottish tyre specialists Soltyre.
BKT has debuted a new on-/off-road tyre for trucks and mixed-use vehicles employed in agricultural applications, the Multimax MP 569. The tyre maker created the BKT Multimax MP 569 as a front axle fitment in size 445/65 R 22.5, to be employed in combination with the FL 633 Performa on the rear axle in size 600/50 R 22.5.

Ceat Specialty is expanding its line-up of VF technology tyres with the introduction of the Spraymax VF. This tyre is specially designed for self-propelled sprayers. The Ceat Spraymax VF is engineered to carry 40 per cent more load than a standard radial. Alternately, it carries the same load as a standard radial at 40 per cent lower pressure.
Contractors who operate tractors in regions where winters are harsh rely on tyres that provide grip in varying conditions, such as the Nokian Hakkapeliitta TRI. Nokian Heavy Tyres has expanded this range with the addition of two 65-series sizes, 540/65R28 and 650/65R38. A total of 29 dimensions are now available.

GRI Tires reports that the second phase expansion of its new production facility, which began in January 2021, is progressing well despite the challenges posed by the current lockdown in Sri Lanka. It is building the new and advanced specialty tyre manufacturing plant next to the current facility with a total investment of US$100 million.
Agricultural tyres generally appear quite similar irrespective of brand, making it difficult to spot at a glance the difference between discount tyres and higher-priced premium products. Bridgestone observes that price thus “wrongly becomes a differentiating element” with these products. The tyre maker is concerned that some may gain the impression they’re paying extra for the brand rather than the tyre, and wishes to set the record straight.

Boasting the largest-ever tyre in the Mitas HC range – the VF 1000/65R32 CFO – the HC 3000 R tyre features Very High Flexion technology and rounded shoulder sections, denoted by the ‘R’ in its name.
Yokohama Off-Highway Tires has announced further price increases for its brands in Europe. These will take effect next month and see prices for Alliance and Galaxy tyres rise by around five per cent. The manufacturer says this increase comes at a time when the costs of raw materials and freight rates “continue to rise at a dramatic pace on the global commodity markets.”

Seven new sizes join the Michelin TrailXBib line-up this month, increasing this specifically-developed range for trailed agricultural equipment to nine dimensions in total.
