Continental is introducing two further dimensions into its VF CombineMaster agricultural tyre range. The addition of 620/70R26 and 750/65R26 products expand the summer 2020-launched line-up to five sizes. These latest tyres arrived on the market in May to enable their utilisation during the current harvest season.
A tyre flipping contest in Newcastle has achieved a new Guiness world record. The event which took place in Blackett Street, Newcastle city centre 14-15 August was sponsored by Continental agricultural tyres and featured a Tractor70 tyre weighing 100 kilos for the men and a 70 kilo CompactMaster AG telehandler tyre for women.
A new world record was recorded for the men’s 100 kilo 12-hour tyre flip with a distance of 10.725 kilometres becoming the new benchmark.

Prometeon Tyre Group shares that it recently extended storage capacity at its central warehouse in Germany to accommodate additional stocks of agricultural tyres. According to the company, the site previously only held Trelleborg’s range of material handling and earthmover tyres. Now it houses the Trelleborg’s entire range of agricultural tyres, allowing the company to store twice as many products and offer immediate delivery on a wider variety than ever before.
A spectacular array of vintage tractors will take to the road in Scotland this coming weekend in aid of cancer charities as the Mearns Vintage Vehicle Club will be staging a Tractor Run from Laurencekirk to Brechin on Sunday, July 18. The run will start from road haulage and transport business Douglas Mitchell Limited in Laurencekirk at 9.30am and a convoy of around 60 tractors will make its way to the Brechin depot of leading Scottish tyre specialists Soltyre.
BKT has debuted a new on-/off-road tyre for trucks and mixed-use vehicles employed in agricultural applications, the Multimax MP 569. The tyre maker created the BKT Multimax MP 569 as a front axle fitment in size 445/65 R 22.5, to be employed in combination with the FL 633 Performa on the rear axle in size 600/50 R 22.5.

Ceat Specialty is expanding its line-up of VF technology tyres with the introduction of the Spraymax VF. This tyre is specially designed for self-propelled sprayers. The Ceat Spraymax VF is engineered to carry 40 per cent more load than a standard radial. Alternately, it carries the same load as a standard radial at 40 per cent lower pressure.
Contractors who operate tractors in regions where winters are harsh rely on tyres that provide grip in varying conditions, such as the Nokian Hakkapeliitta TRI. Nokian Heavy Tyres has expanded this range with the addition of two 65-series sizes, 540/65R28 and 650/65R38. A total of 29 dimensions are now available.
The Tour de France – cycling through the Pyrenees and the Alps, vying for the yellow jersey, a jubilant finish on the Champs-Élysées…and agricultural tyres. We can look forward to all of these in 2021 as Continental, one of five main partners of the Tour de France, is bringing its agricultural tyre line-up to this year’s event.
For the second year, off-highway tyre specialist BKT is supporting the Tractor of the Year (TotY) event as sponsor. TotY named its finalists for the 2022 edition today during an online event at totydigital.com.
GRI Tires reports that the second phase expansion of its new production facility, which began in January 2021, is progressing well despite the challenges posed by the current lockdown in Sri Lanka. It is building the new and advanced specialty tyre manufacturing plant next to the current facility with a total investment of US$100 million.
