GRI Tires reports that the second phase expansion of its new production facility, which began in January 2021, is progressing well despite the challenges posed by the current lockdown in Sri Lanka. It is building the new and advanced specialty tyre manufacturing plant next to the current facility with a total investment of US$100 million.
Agricultural tyres generally appear quite similar irrespective of brand, making it difficult to spot at a glance the difference between discount tyres and higher-priced premium products. Bridgestone observes that price thus “wrongly becomes a differentiating element” with these products. The tyre maker is concerned that some may gain the impression they’re paying extra for the brand rather than the tyre, and wishes to set the record straight.
Trelleborg Group has made a new addition to the Mitas HC (High Capacity) radial tyre portfolio with the introduction of the HC 3000 R. Boasting the largest-ever tyre in the Mitas HC range – the VF 1000/65R32 CFO – the HC 3000 R tyre features Very High Flexion technology and rounded shoulder sections, denoted by the ‘R’ in its name.
Yokohama Off-Highway Tires has announced further price increases for its brands in Europe. These will take effect next month and see prices for Alliance and Galaxy tyres rise by around five per cent. The manufacturer says this increase comes at a time when the costs of raw materials and freight rates “continue to rise at a dramatic pace on the global commodity markets.”

Mahansaria Tyres Private Limited (MTPL) has made an agreement in-principle with Tyres International Inc (TI) to buy a majority stake in the US-based tyre wholesaler. Trelleborg Wheel Systems is celebrating the 70th anniversary of tractor and agricultural machinery manufacturer Valtra with its tyre personalisation service, YourTire. Among the initiatives to honour Valtra’s milestone, Trelleborg has employed YourTire to create bespoke TM1060 tyres with Valtra’s anniversary logo. These tyres will be fitted to a limited-edition version of the Valtra T Series tractor released to celebrate the occasion.
