Brake disc crazing: Comline advice

Brake manufacturer, Comline, has shared some advice relating to the intriguing phenomenon of brake disc ‘crazing’.

Imagine a scenario where you are inspecting a vehicle’s brake disc and notice an unusual pattern on its surface: a cluster of small, hairline cracks resembling ‘orange peeling’ or the appearance of crazy paving. This phenomenon is what experts refer to as brake disc ‘crazing’. These clusters of cracks can vary in size and are particularly noticeable, especially on vehicles with open-style alloy wheels.

Trico revamps Flex range

Original equipment (OE) wiper blade manufacturer, Trico, has unveiled its new Flex range, with an emphasis on further improved performance and sustainable packaging. Exhibitor bookings for UK Garage and Bodyshop Event exceed 60%

The UK Garage and Bodyshop Event returns in 2024 and organiser Messe Frankfurt UK reports receiving a swathe of bookings for early bird offers on stands. Leading automotive aftermarket suppliers, parts distributors, and manufacturers have booked over 60% of stands for the event, positioning them to engage with garage and bodyshop owners and professionals at Birmingham’s National Exhibition Centre (NEC) on 5-6 June 2024.

IAAF regional meetings to offer state-of-the-art member facility tours

The Independent Automotive Aftermarket Federation (IAAF) is taking its activity direct to its aftermarket membership with the arrangement of several regional meetings across England in mid-October. With the exclusive meetings providing members with insight into the Federation’s activity, IAAF is taking its message on the road, with hosts offering visitors a glimpse behind the scenes at their state-of-the-art facilities. Meetings are planned for Tuesday 10 October, Wednesday 11 October and Thursday 12 October at IAAF members Ring Automotive in Leeds, SMP Europe in Nottingham, and Hella in Banbury respectively.

Ecobat Battery – finding solutions for real world problems

After shining a spotlight on the ongoing dependence that vehicle manufacturers (VMs) have made on the 12-volt battery for all their models, whether petrol, diesel, hybrid or fully electric, Ecobat Battery is again highlighting an important message to the independent service and repair sector, this time on the subject of upgrading their replacement. The issue that it is raising concerns the quality of the 12-volt battery that the VMs have selected as original equipment (OE), particularly for their electric vehicles (EV), which in many cases is a standard lead acid battery as opposed to an AGM (absorbent glass mat) or enhanced flooded battery (EFB), and its suitability in the role it’s called to perform.

The company’s regional sales manager, Phil Nicholson, and technical manager, Alan Povey headed to Dingbro’s company headquarters in Aberdeen to celebrate 50 years of the brand. The trade event was a great success with over 1000 garages and 100 suppliers in attendance, discussing the latest and greatest in the automotive aftermarket.

UK Garage and Bodyshop Event team take on the Emerald Isle for Ben Automotive

The UK Garage and Bodyshop Event (UKGBE), presented by Automechanika Birmingham, will participate in this year’s Bangers4Ben rally. Its team, dubbed the Dublin Driving Dolls, will travel 1,500 miles across Ireland over four days (7-10 October) alongside other entrants in their very own ‘bangers’, all of which cost less than £750. The rally will cross the Irish Sea from Holyhead to Dublin, hitting the winding roads of Ireland, before completing the tour back in Dublin and the ferry back to Britain. UKGBE has partnered with LKQ Euro Car Parts and established aftermarket business owners Louise Baker and Rachel Murray on its entry.

New area sales manager for SMP Europe

Engine management specialist SMP Europe, the home of Intermotor, Lemark and Lucas brands, has appointed Will Fry as area sales manager as the company looks to strengthen its sales team and promote from within. Fry has been with the company for over four years, previously holding the role of marketing communications manager where he successfully supported and delivered the marketing of the brand.
