Manchester Crown Court cleared five current and past directors and managers of Klarius Products Ltd of charges of selling non-typed approved catalytic converters on 3 December. Bosch is set to acquire Unipart Group’s (UG) Automotive Aftermarket workshop programmes in the UK. These programmes include the Unipart Car Care Centres (UCCC), a network of independently run garages, the KiS online garage management software, which helps to organise all daily workshop activities, and the Unipartner Consumer App. It is planned for all existing customer contracts to be transferred to Bosch. According to Bosch, “It has been agreed that the purchase price will not be disclosed”.
The exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system has become a central part of modern engine design as a result of government legislation to lower exhaust emissions. The system helps to moderate nitrogen oxide (NOX) emissions produced in the combustion chamber when the engine’s temperature is high, by introducing a proportion of its exhaust gas into the intake air, thus lowering the temperature and, in petrol engines, it also reduces fuel consumption if it is operating under partial load.

The case against European Exhaust and Catalyst Ltd, which took place at Portsmouth Magistrates Court and concluded on Monday 28 October, resulted in a criminal conviction for the company and a £3,000 fine.
T P Engineering Ltd (TPCATS) is closing its UK operations.
