Nexen Tire is advertising in a motorsport championship that doesn’t actually exist in the real world, and that’s a good thing, as this non-existent championship is the mobile racing game Asphalt 8. Starting 30 March, the tyre maker is targeting consumers in European markets through the placement of video and banner advertisements within the Asphalt 8 game and by holding various in-game events, including a customised sponsor cup – the Nexen Tire Cup – and by offering mini games for European markets.

A new Falken Tyre television commercial campaign is being aired during Bundesliga football matches broadcast in Northern and Eastern Europe. Off-road tyre specialist BKT reports that the new advertising campaign it launched at the SIMA agricultural show in Paris has “taken off with great momentum.” The campaign centres on the slogan “We Experience – being part of your field”; BKT says the slogan emphasises the “solid bond between the company and the end user.” This message is supported by graphic that highlight a tyre which is entirely immersed in its environment –symbolising the “total integration within the tyre’s field of application.”

The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has just released its ruling on a complaint made by TMD Friction regarding comparison results featured on the stopsecret.org website run by Unipart Automotive. Six brands of brake pads were tested by the VCA MIRA test centre using mean fully developed deceleration tests, an industry-wide recognised test for effective braking performance. The same vehicle was used for each of the tests with a human driver and onboard measuring equipment. Details of the nature and results of the tests were downloadable from the website and indicated that the Unipart brake pads produced the best results. TMD claimed that the advert was misleading as they believed the test used for comparison was unreliable.
Korean-based tyre manufacturer Nexen has announced that it has won a contract to supply original equipment tyres (OE) for all new Chrysler 200 cars. According to the company, the new 200 model has been produced at Chrysler’s Starling Heights assembly plant in Michigan, USA since 2011.
Toyo Tire Europe says it will participate in Reifen 2014 with a radical new concept booth designed to showcase the company’s more focused, purposeful approach. The new booth takes the theme of an urban skatepark with a large half pipe dominating the design. The concept is intended to reflect the driven nature of skaters. The Essen show is the first outing for Toyo’s new exhibition presence, however the company says we can also expect to see the booth at consumer events during the coming year.
