On boxing day 2023, The Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd. introduced what it calls a “superbly quiet” tyre. According to Yokohama, the new Advan dB V553 will be able to maintain it low-noise properties through out the tyre’s life.
In addition to its already announced supply of Yokohama Advan V107 tyres for the Porsche Cayenne, Yokohama Rubber is producing its Advan V35 as original equipment for the SUV. It is shipping the Yokohama Advan V35 to Porsche AG in the front wheel size 285/40R22 110V and rear size 315/35R22 111V.
Yokohama Rubber has extended its original equipment supply to the Mazda CX-90, the larger sibling of the CX-80 sold in the UK and Europe. Not only is it supplying Yokohama Geolandar X-CV tyres for Mazda CX-90 models sold in the USA, Mazda has also approved the Yokohama Advan V61 as an original equipment fitment for the CX-90 in “Australia and other markets.”
The Yokohama Rubber Co. Ltd. is supplying its Advan V61 tyres as original equipment (OE) for the fifth-generation Lexus RX. Launched in Japan and overseas, including Europe, from this November, the new RX is specifically being fitted with 235/60R19 103V size Advan V61 tyres.
Cars running on Yokohama Advan tyres have finished first in two open tyre supply divisions of the 99th Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, which took place in Colorado, USA, on 27 June. The division champions were Raphael Astier, driving a 2015 Porsche BBI Turbo Cup in the Pikes Peak Open Division, and Randy Pobst, driving his 2021 Tesla Model S Plaid in the Exhibition Division.
Yokohama tyres have been fitted as original equipment on the Porsche Cayenne since the SUV was first introduced in 2002. This partnership has continued through to the third-generation Cayenne – Yokohama Rubber shares that two of its tyre models are being supplied as original equipment.
A new member of the Yokohama Advan range is coming our way. Starting in spring, Yokohama Rubber will offer the Advan Neova AD08RS in European markets. This street sports tyre will eventually be sold in 31 sizes, ranging from 185/55R15 82V to 255/30R19 91W.
The Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd., is now supplying Advan Sport V105 tyres to BMW Group as original equipment on the new M5 model. The new BMW M5, which debuted in March 2018, comes equipped with 275/40ZR19 (105Y) front and 285/40ZR19 (107Y) rear tyres.
In addition to its latest motorsport developments, Yokohama used the Autosport International show to celebrate the 40th anniversary of its flagship Advan car tyre range, launching a runflat version of the leading Advan Sport V105 tyre. Available in a number of key sizes from 16” – 20”, the Advan Sport V105 ZPS is designed as a replacement tyre for a number of rear wheel drive executive saloons fitted with runflat tyres as standard, the manufacturer states.
From this year, the World Touring Car Championship will be run according to TCR technical regulations, and has been renamed WTCR – the FIA World Touring Car Cup. Yokohama Advan racing tyres have been adoped as control tyre for the WTCR races to be run in 2018–19. Under the two-year contract, Yokohama Rubber will provide its Advan A005 dry-surface tyre and Advan A006 wet-surface tyre; both will be supplied in size 250/660R18.
A new logo has been created to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Yokohama ‘Advan’ tyre brand. It will be used throughout 2018 as a means for Yokohama Rubber to express its “gratitude to the many people in Japan and abroad who have helped make Advan a hit brand that has been loved for over 40 years.”
Currently experiencing a boost in its brand awareness thanks to its partnership with 2016/2017 Premier League champions Chelsea FC, demand for Yokohama’s range of high performance tyres which allow drivers to push the limit reportedly continues to soar.
Yokohama HPT has given directional the Advan Fleva V701 tyre its UK debut. Previewed at the 2016 Geneva Motorshow, the new tyre is now available in sizes ranging from 15 – 20 inches, the new tyre delivers sporty handling. The tyre has achieved an EU wet grip grading of ‘A’ and offers very low levels noise levels of 67-69 dB.
Yokohama Rubber has confirmed its exhibition presence at the Tokyo Auto Salon 2017, which will be held at Makuhari Messe between 13 and 15 January. The Yokohama exhibit will feature booths dedicated to tyres and alloy wheels, with the spotlight particularly thrown upon the company’s Advan global flagship brand by the presence of two Advan-shod racing cars.
