ATS Euromaster has gained the latest ISO 9001 certification a full two and a half years ahead of deadline – making it the only national tyre and vehicle service provider to hold the highest award for quality management. New regulations mean that by September 2018, organisations that hold current ISO 9001 certification will have to prove that they meet the more stringent requirements of ISO 9001:2015.
Bandvulc has been awarded SafeContractor accreditation for excellence in health and safety. The retreader, recently bought by Continental, stated that its application for SafeContractor accreditation was driven by the need for a uniform standard across the business and to protect employees and customers.
A new qualification for MOT testers and managers is being introduced to help improve the skills of those who work in the MOT testing industry. Each year around 42 million car MOT tests are carried out. While the vast majority are conducted to the correct standard, errors can and have occurred. The new qualification and training regime is intended to improve standards and consistency across the industry.

The award recognises ongoing outstanding performance in delivering a safer work environment. The network is the only national tyre specialist to be recognised at the highest level.
The new Klarius Emission Control Garage Accreditation scheme is designed to improve garage’s ability to deliver emission control product knowledge and services, while also increasing sales. The mission is to provide a mixture of professional training, signage and promotional tools all designed to increase customer confidence in solving Exhaust, CAT and DPF related issues.
CAM has been accredited with Investors in People (IIP) following a recent inspection. The standard recognises high quality customer service and support, high levels of staff retention, and a leading position and high penetration in its target sector.
The US Department of Commerce (DoC) has granted Latin Expo Group LLC Trade Fair Certification to organize the official United States Pavilion at the Latin American & Caribbean Tyre Expo 2016 exhibition at the ATLAPA Convention Centre, Ciudad de Panama, Panama, 13-15 July 2016.
ATS Euromaster is to further increase its commitment to protecting customers, by embarking on a massive training programme that will see every single manager earn an accredited health and safety qualification from the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH). ATS Euromaster has been licensed to deliver the qualification in-house thanks to accreditation and recognition by IOSH of the outstanding commitment to safety within the business, which already boasts an abundance of awards and accreditations for health and safety including membership of Safecontractor and the Contractors Health and Safety Scheme (CHAS). It was also presented with a second consecutive Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) Gold Award in May 2015.
Reifen Gundlach is celebrating the attainment of ISO/TS 16949, a standard that qualifies the German tyre wholesaler to supply the automotive industry.
However, this is not a completely new development. Reifen Gundlach reports that it embarked on the course for this technical innovation several years ago. Indeed OE-compliant complete wheel assemblies have been rolling off the production line of “one of the most modern assembly lines for the aftermarket in Europe” since 2008 and the firms tyre/wheel assembly business has had quality management system standard ISO 9001 since 2006.
ATS Euromaster has been presented with the International Safety Award by the British Safety Council. The accolade, which adds to its high tally of safety accreditations and awards, followed an assessment of ATS Euromaster’s Wishaw centre, which was found to show strong commitment to protecting the health and safety of both workers and customers.
The Institute of the Motor Industry confirmed it will be changing the title of Automotive Technician Accreditation (ATA), along with Automotive Management Accreditation (AMA), to ‘IMI Accreditation’ as part of the IMI’s brand overhaul. ATA was first established in 2005 to act as a voluntary licence to practise for the automotive sector and takes the form of practical and knowledge based assessments designed to test the current competence of an individual in their job role.
The IMI Professional Register (www.imiregister.org.uk) has received a fresh new look to accompany the launch of a new consumer and trade campaign. The refreshed Register includes improvements based on feedback received since its public facing launch last year. This includes improved search functionality, page design and interactive advice for vehicle owners. Over 40,000 automotive professionals, including IMI Accreditation (ATA) holders and IMI Members, are set to benefit.
Pro-Align has achieved accreditation for its Towcester headquarters as an IMI Awards Approved Centre. Becoming an approved centre is the first stage in enabling Pro-Align to offer IMI’s Quality Assured Awards (QAA) for their training courses and reinforces the company’s commitment to education and raising the standards of wheel alignment in the UK.
Vacu-Lug Traction Tyres, the Grantham-based commercial tyre remoulding specialist, has been awarded OHSAS 18001 status. This BSI certification for Occupational Health and Safety Management supplements the company’s two existing accreditations for quality and environmental management. Upon announcing its OHSAS 18001 accreditation, Vacu-Lug noted that it is the first retreader in the UK to hold all three standards, and as such the company has “set a new benchmark for the industry.”
Protyre says it is the UK's first retail tyre group to subscribe to the FOXY Choice approved female friendly garage network. This means their 57 retail centres have all signed the FOXY Promise to 'never overcharge, patronise or sell women services they don't need. "This is the area where some women need reassuring most, because the tyre industry has a poor image in many female minds," said FOXY Founder Steph Savill, "this is why we're so delighted to be promoting Protyre Centres and their garage services to women drivers including members of FOXY Lady Drivers Club and their families."
