Unrivalled range, choice of brands

The largest stock of agricultural tyres in the UK can be found at Kirkby Tyres. More than 30,000 agricultural products – a range covering more than 600 tread patterns, over 800 sizes and at least 2,500 agricultural SKUs – are currently housed in the wholesaler’s warehouses in Liverpool and Dublin. Marketing manager Adam Bromilow tells to Tyres & Accessories that Kirkby’s agricultural range is “unrivalled” in the UK and Ireland, and it is this availability (Kirkby recently doubled the size of its Liverpool facility), combined with a policy of free next day delivery that is supported by a new warehouse management system, that led to Kirkby Tyres being voted Truck and Agricultural Tyre Supplier of the Year for a second consecutive year at the 2016 Tyre Industry Awards.

BKT launches mobile website

A mobile-friendly version of the BKT website went live today, and the off-road tyre maker says the m.bkt-tires.com site offers improved content research and browsing from any mobile device, with six language options (English, Italian, French, Spanish, German and Portuguese) available from the start. Additional languages will be introduced in the near future to cater to a wider range of users in the 130 countries where BKT is present. Site visitors from the USA will also be spared the ignominy of metric measurements by choosing the US standard option within the site’s settings.

Ramesh Poddar resigns as BKT director

During its meeting on 10 September, the Balkrishna Industries Ltd. Board of Directors accepted the resignation of Ramesh Kumar Poddar. Ramesh Kumar Poddar had served the tyre maker as a director since 31 July 2006. His resignation takes effect immediately.

BKT profits up 47% in March to June quarter

Balkrishna Industries Ltd. (BKT) has reported increased sales and volumes and significantly higher net income in the first quarter of its 2017 financial year. The Indian manufacturer sold 41,456 tonnes of tyres during the three months to 30 June 2016, an amount representing year-on-year growth of 11 per cent. Net sales were up 7.0 per cent to Rs 9.1 billion (£102.2 million). EBITDA jumped 136 per cent to Rs 2.6 billion (£29.2 million), with the margin growing from 12.8 per cent in the corresponding quarter of the previous year to 28.0 per cent in the reporting period. Net profit rose 46.6 per cent to Rs 1.5 billion (£16.7 million).

BKT offers special sprayer line-up

BKT is offering a specialist sprayer-orientated agri-tyre line-up. Agrimax Spargo is a radial tire designed by BKT developing a new concept of VF technology. Specifically developed for spraying applications and row crops, it can stand heavier loads while maintaining the same inflation pressure compared to a standard tyre of the same size. Four sizes currently available on the market are four: VF 380/85 R 38, VF 380/90 R 46, VF 380/105 R 50 and VF 420/95 R 50.

BKT present on test vehicles at Deutz-Fahr launch event

Off-road tyre specialist BKT is proud to share that its products were fitted to tractors featured at this week’s launch of the Deutz-Fahr 6 and 7 Series ranges, which took place at the brand’s ‘Future Farming’ event in Dresden, Germany. The company also served as a sponsor to the SDF launch event and reports that its Agrimax RT 657 was fitted on 6 and 7 Series tractors at the launch and the Agrimax RT 765 on the 7 Series. A total of 19 Deutz-Fahr vehicles were available for live testing at Future Farming, and BKT shares that its flagship Agrimax Force saw action fitted to the 9 Series, which was launched last year.

New additions to BKT range on show at Bauma

BKT says there is no way of overlooking its presence at Bauma. This comment relates to the company’s size 27.00 R 49 Earthmax SR 45 Plus mining tyre, which at an imposing 2.70 metres tall can be easily spotted within the Munich-based exhibition’s outdoor area, however it could equally apply to the number of new products that the off-road tyre specialist has brought to the show.

Bauma debut for BKT Portmax PM93

BKT considers the Bauma 2016 exhibition in Munich the “perfect occasion” to display its new latest tyres for the logistics sector. One of these products is the brand new Portmax PM93, an all-steel radial that is built using multi-layer steel belts; these belts, reports BKT, give the Portmax PM93 “strength and force even in the most demanding situations.” The new tyre is specifically designed for container handling in port applications, and BKT list excellent stability, durability and fuel economy as three main characteristics.

Global premiere for BKT Earthmax SR 31 at Bauma 2016

The brand new Earthmax SR 31, which BKT says has “just rolled off the production line,” will be put on display for the first time at this year’s Bauma show in Munich, Germany. The all-steel radial features multi-ply steel belts, and BKT says this gives the tyre “extraordinary strength and stability under [the] toughest operating conditions.” Other qualities the manufacturer attributes to the Earthmax SR 31 are excellent traction and manoeuvrability, along with good ride comfort.

BKT exhibiting at Bauma

BKT has announced that it is investing in attending the triennial Bauma OTR equipment show in Munich from 11-17 April 2016. BKT reports it will welcome visitors by means of a “strong and appealing advertising presence conveying BKT’s vision”. As in the last edition of Bauma in 2013, BKT will exclusively customize all rickshaws that are at the trade show visitors’ disposal for moving around in the large open-air exhibition area. And it will be difficult to miss BKT’s new giant tyre, Earthmax SR 45 Plus, with its height of 2.70 metres.

‘Agri Supplier of the Year’ strengthens range with IF, VF products

Last month we mentioned that 2015 had been a good year for Kirkby Tyres Ltd. Amongst other highlights, the wholesaler instigated a new warehouse project, added key new product lines and was named ‘Truck and Agricultural Tyre Supplier of the Year’ at the NTDA awards in October. The Liverpool-based company now looks forward to continuing its success in 2016.

BKT preparing for 51-inch giant tyre production at $500 million plant

The northwest region of India’s Gujarat state is home to large areas of desert where you may encounter thorny shrubs, packs of wild animals – and a state-of-the-art US$500 million tyre factory. On a 312 acre site, Balkrishna Industries Ltd. (BKT) has erected one of the largest off-road tyre plants in the world, a facility capable of producing 325 tonnes of tyres per day. Tyres & Accessories visited in early December.

Early 2016 opening for BKT R&D centre

Every year, Indian off-road tyre specialist Balkrishna Industries Ltd. invests three to four per cent of its turnover into research and development, and through this focus the company is able to bring 60 to 80 new types of tyre to market annually. The reported average development time for these tyres is six to eight weeks.
