‘Supply Dynamics in the European PCLT Tire Industry to 2028’ is a new briefing by leading tire market analyst, Astutus Research. This report is provided as a PowerPoint briefing, sent to purchaser’s email account within two business days.
The patterns of supply for PCLT tires across Europe continues to evolve as businesses in western and central Europe disengage with Russia, and sanctions have halted tire imports from Eastern Europe in the second half of 2022. Imports from Asia have filled the gap in supply – tires previously destined for Russia have been re-directed and expanding manufacturers seek to increase their share in Europe.
Nokian is clearly most affected by the upheaval in Russia, and is working to secure alternative capacity (including its proposed plant in Romania), whilst Pirelli has also adjusted its production to replace supply from its plants in Russia. As a result, Romania will become the leader in terms of PCLT tire manufacturing capacity in Western and Central Europe, surpassing Germany.
Meanwhile, Toyo and Linglong have both started production at their new plants in Serbia and will ramp up production over the next few years, whilst Sentury Tire of China has announced its plans for a plant in Spain.
