Sherwood Farming benefits from Michelin SprayBib and YieldBib tyres

Nottingham’s Sherwood Farming reports that it is reaping the benefits after specifying a combination of sprayer and tractor tyres on its high-horsepower Fendt 720 Vario tractor, on the advice of its local Michelin Exelagri-accredited tyre dealership.

The company, which farms 3,500 acres of land, required a narrow tyre for inter-row crop work, which would also enable the tractor to tow a fully-loaded 14-tonne trailer during harvest. After seeking the advice of Pete Sampson, commercial manager at Tanvic Tyres’ Newark centre, and that of Michelin account manager Ian Whitwell, Sherwood Farming selected Michelin 380/85 R 34 YieldBib tyres for the front axle, and 380/90 R 50 SprayBib fitments for the rear axle of the tractor.

All-season tyres fail to shake compromise stigma in German test

A recent comparative test of all-season tyres from Germany suggested these products deliver less than optimal performance when driven on dry roads. The question of all-season versus dedicated seasonal fitments has once again arisen in the latest tyre test from auto motor und sport magazine. In this evaluation of four size 215/60 R17 H/V tyres – the sort of rubber often found on SUVs such as the VW Tiguan, Skoda Yeti or Vauxhall Mokka (which served as test vehicle) – only one protagonist gained the top ‘recommended’ rating.

Test: All-season tyres less than optimal for dry roads

All-season tyres aren’t just growing in popularity in the UK – sales of year-round rubber are on the up in many European markets, and these products are increasingly the subject of comparative tyre tests. The latest is from Germany’s Autoclub Europa (ACE) and its Austrian partner the Auto, Motor und Radfahrerbund Österreichs (ARBÖ); this test evaluated the performance of ten size 250/55 R16 all-season tyres. The question the two motoring associations strove to answer was whether all-season tyres are true universal geniuses or merely winter tyres with summer characteristics.
