Yokohama becomes Official Tyre Partner to Silverstone Classic

Yokohama has become the Official Tyre Partner for the Silverstone Classic festival for the first time in its 100-year history in an association the tyre manufacturer says reflects its rich motorsport heritage. In its new role, Yokohama becomes the title sponsor for several highlights, including the Yokohama Trophy for FIA Masters Historic Sports Cars and the Yokohama Silverstone Classic Supercar Track Parade and Paddock Display. The company will present the Yokohama Silverstone Classic Club Car of the Show Award.

Falken to exhibit 3 new tyres at The Tire Cologne

Falken Tyre will launch three new tyre models for three distinct applications from its stand (Hall 7, Area A) at The Tire Cologne (29 May – 1 June). The new tyres are the Euroall Season AS210 car tyre, the Euroall Season VAN11 for light trucks and vans, and the Wildpeak M/T01 4×4 tyre for off-road use.

Test: European motoring clubs still not enthusiastic about all-season tyres

Three motoring clubs in Europe – Germany’s ADAC, the ÖAMTC in Austria and Switzerland’s TCS – have published the results of their joint all-season tyre test. The trio put nine 175/65 R14 82/86 T/H tyres through their paces, with dry testing taking place in the summer, the disciplines in autumn and ice and snow testing during the winter months.

Bridgestone joins Circular Economy 100 Programme

Established in 2010 with the aim of accelerating the transition from the current ‘take, make and dispose’ extractive industrial model to a circular economy, the Ellen MacArthur Foundation acts as educator, communicator and lobbyist for this issue. The Isle of Wight-based organisation’s Circular Economy 100 (CE100) programme is a key vehicle for spreading the message, and today Bridgestone Corporation has announced it has come on board.

TyreSafe Awards entries deadline extended

TyreSafe has announced it is extending the deadline for TyreSafe award entry submissions until 5pm on Tuesday 8 May, the day after the first May bank holiday.

The deadline has been moved back following requests from stakeholders and supporters to allow extra time to finalise entries, but the charity is encouraging those who wish to enter to do so as soon as possible.

Tyre Recovery Association introduces Responsible Part Worn Tyre Programme

The Tyre Recovery Association (TRA) has announced the introduction of its Responsible Part Worn Tyre programme (RPWTP) at its 2018 forum day at the Belfry Hotel in Wishaw. The programme, introduced and strongly endorsed by Stefan Hay, chief executive of the National Tyre Distributors’ Association (NTDA) at the event, was detailed by Alan Bithell. The RPWTP has been designed with the purpose of raising standards of professionalism in retailers selling part-worn tyres, ensuring all tyres sold by participating retailers are legally compliant.

Landsail Tyres launches Speed Of Sight charity partnership

TRS Tyres the latest to invest in CAM UniSerV and e-jobsheet

Morecambe-based TRS Tyres is to become a UniSerV user and a subscriber to e-jobsheet, the open-access, digital tablet-based service work platform for truck, bus and van, to enhance its commercial tyre service operations. The agreement means that the operator will be able to introduce time savings and efficiencies into its business to reduce costs as well as improve service agility and operational visibility.

S Tyres Ltd goes hosted with CAM Cloud

Cork-based S Tyres Ltd. is investing in CAM Cloud to host its Cameo POS, stock, billing and ledgers system. According to the company, hosted Cameo will provide the Republic of Ireland’s premier Bandag agent with a managed service that ensures quality, hassle-free maintenance of its server and backup solution. It will enable S Tyres to connect directly with key partners such as Bridgestone.

Kwik Fit: Pothole damage becoming a costlier problem

A survey performed for Kwik Fit indicates that the pothole problem is getting worse in the UK, a trend that will surprise very few people. Based upon feedback from 2,049 respondents, it has been determined that pothole damage to vehicles last year cost a total of £915 million to repair. This is 34 per cent more than the cost calculated from a similar survey two years ago – and the rise can’t be explained away by increasing repair costs.
