Ag super single tyres to gain ground from tracks – Titan International

Will the agricultural market shift towards wheeled 4WD tractors over their tracked counterparts in the years to come? Titan International believes so. It bases this projection upon feedback from US agricultural equipment dealers and their customers, as well as from testing the tyre maker carried out in North America together with dealer group Van Wall Equipment. This showed that super single tyres offer comparable field performance and reduced soil compaction at a much lower cost than tracks.

Mislabelled tyres sold in the UK

The UK didn’t participate in the MSTyre15 project, yet we’ve gained a better understanding of tyre labelling non-compliance here thanks to freedom of information (FOI) requests made by Unite, the trade union representing many employed within the automotive sector in Britain and Ireland. In separate FOI responses, it was confirmed to Unite that no legislation exists to enforce Regulation (EC) No. 1222/2009 and that mislabelled tyres have been sold in the UK.

Vredestein introduces tyres for modern classics

The Vredestein tyre range has been expanded in response to fast-rising demand for modern classic cars. The first tyre will be launched in September and is designed for the original Audi Quattro. The tyre’s development was assisted by none other than former Formula One champion and Vredestein ambassador Jochen Mass.

Nokian Tyres increases sales, profits

Sales and profits headed in the right direction for Nokian Tyres in the second quarter and first half of 2018. The Finnish tyre maker reports a 6.4 per cent increase in net sales, to 429.1 million euros, in the six months to 30 June. Operating profit during this period rose 10.7 per cent year-on-year to 169.3 million euros and the operating margin reached 22.1 per cent (21.3 per cent in H1 2017). Profit for the period amounted to 134.1 million euros, 15.2 per cent higher than a year ago, and earnings per share rose to 0.97 euros.

Barton Garages becomes EDT’s best performing partner in just 6 months

EDT Automotive says that Barton Garages has achieved “incredible results” with its range of engine decontamination machines, becoming the EDT network’s highest performing garage-partner since joining in January. According to company co-director Tracey Barton, the Yelverton-based workshop was seeing an increasing number of customer vehicles which were suffering from a high concentration of carbon build-up, putting their engines under undue strain.

Nokian Tyres navigating towards its 3rd World Orienteering Championships

The forests will be a hive of activity on the morrow, but don’t worry – it’ll only be the start of the Nokian Tyres World Orienteering Championships. Between 4 and 11 August, those nimble of compass and versed in the art of map reading will descend upon the fields and woodlands around Latvia’s capital Riga and the neighbouring small down of Sigulda in order to prove their mettle and sense of direction. For the third year in a row. Nokian tyres is acting as the event’s title sponsor.

Mid-range all-season tyres lead market growth

There are signs of significant growth at the top end of the all-season tyre segment, with volume and value skyrocketing in the ultra-high performance tyre segment. According to GfK Panelmarket data comparing figures from July 2016 to June 2017 with the period between July 2017 to June 2018, sales of all-season tyres are up a healthy 9 per cent overall.

Chinese truck tyres: EC proposes revised anti-dumping duties

Thanks to an internal document sent to EU member states and national tyre trade associations, we now have a clearer idea about what form the European Commission’s final anti-dumping measures against Chinese truck and bus tyres may take. The Commission favours a system of fixed, per-tyre duties similar to the preliminary duties introduced in May; the silver lining for Chinese tyre makers is that it has recommended these duties be reduced.

Davanti Tyres secures five new distribution deals

Davanti has established exclusive distribution deals in five new territories following its participation at The Tire Cologne. The brand stated that the impact of the show has “exceeded expectations”. Davanti held a series of meetings during the event, which resulted in confirmed deals to distribute tyres in the Czech Republic, Serbia, Macedonia, Belarus and Moldova.

Maxam supplying agricultural tyres to STARCO

The recent signing of a long-term supply agreement between Maxam Tire International and STARCO will allow the latter to extend its wheel and tyre product range for the growing agricultural segment. The agricultural trailer and implement products supplied by Maxam will primarily consist of tyres with higher than standard speed and load ratings; these will be paired with STARCO rims and offered to OEMs as complete wheel solutions.
