Davanti Tyres has recently entered its second year as a sponsor of the Premier League’s Everton Football Club, and is marking this milestone with an extension of its partnership into the predominant digital version of the Merseyside club’s home ground, Goodison Park. Davanti’s pitch-side advertisements will play prominently when players of the latest edition of the world’s most popular football simulation, FIFA 19, visit Goodison, just as they do at the real ground, rendered in 4K on the latest generation of consoles.

Apollo Tyres: Q2 2018-19 financials

Sales and profits were higher year-on-year during the second quarter of Apollo Tyres’ 2018-29 financial year. The company reports a 23 per cent rise in sales, to Rs 41.92 billion (£447.8 million) in the three months to 30 September 2019. Operating profit rose 25 per cent during the quarter, to Rs 4.80 billion (£51.5 million), while net profit was, at Rs 1.46 billion (£15.6 million), four per cent higher than a year earlier.

Nokian Tyres: Financial targets aim for faster growth in Europe, North America

The Board of Directors at Nokian Tyres has set new financial targets for 2019-2021. These targets include faster than market growth of more than five per cent CAGR, EBIT at 22 per cent and a shareholders’ dividend of more than 50 per cent of net earnings. Nokian says the
financial targets will guide the company in reaching the strategic ambitions it set in early 2018, which include increasing sales by 50 per cent in Central Europe and doubling them in North America within the next five years.

Apollo Tyres’ Onkar Kanwar receives Japanese Imperial honour

In its 2018 Autumn Imperial Decorations, the Government of Japan has conferred upon Onkar S Kanwar the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Star. The chairman of Apollo Tyres Ltd. received this recognition for his contributions towards strengthening the economic relations between Japan and India, and for promoting Japanese company’s entry into the Indian market.

Dunlop tyres OE on Revolution track car

Dunlop Motorsport tyres have been chosen as original equipment for a new sports car from UK-based manufacturer Revolution Racecars. The Revolution, which is built upon an advanced carbon-fibre chassis and brings Le Mans Prototype technology to the customer racing and track day market, will wear Dunlop-supplied dry and wet weather tyres in size 200/580R15 on the front and 265/605R16 on the rear.

Mitsubishi becomes Toyo Tire’s largest shareholder – collaboration to intensify

Through a new arrangement with Mitsubishi Corporation (Mitsubishi), Toyo Tire & Rubber (Toyo) aims to “survive and remain viable” during the “unprecedented transformation” currently occurring in the automotive industry. The two parties have entered into a business alliance agreement that involves Mitsubishi increasing its shareholding in Toyo from 3.05 per cent to 20 per cent. Toyo will issue Mitsubishi 26,931,956 new shares via a third-party allotment that will be paid in between 15 January and 28 June 2019. With this share acquisition, Mitsubishi becomes Toyo’s largest shareholder.

Continental: New EcoContact 6 offers double-digit improvement in mileage, rolling resistance

With the new EcoContact 6, Continental says it has launched a summer car tyre that “delivers substantial improvements in terms of rolling resistance, mileage, steering precision and braking distances.” The tyre has already original equipment approvals from a dozen European vehicle manufacturers for subcompact to mid-range cars, and volume production of the range for the replacement market has now begun. By next March, 112 dimensions for 13- to 22-inch rim diameters will be available.

Michelin investing in winter tyres, semi-finished products in Canada

Investments totalling CA$21 million (£12.3 million) will add 150 new jobs to the Michelin tyre factory in Nova Scotia, Canada and make permanent 200 temporary positions that were previously slated to end in 2020. The investments take the form of two new projects at Michelin’s Pictou County site – a new winter tyre line and the North American launch of a new process for semi-finished materials. These projects are valued at $9 million and $12 million respectively.

Dunlop Aircraft Tyres (DAT) reports the world’s only specialist producer of aircraft tyres has achieved two years of continuous operation at its Birmingham, UK, plant without a reportable accident.
