Bridgestone focusing on wear life with new Duravis R002 tyres

With the launch of the Duravis R002, Bridgestone is offering fleets an “ultra-durable” tyre that is designed to lower operational costs per kilometre through “outstanding wear performance and optimised fuel efficiency.” The main four Bridgestone Duravis R002 sizes will be available as of September 2019, with six additional sizes arriving next year. The arrival of the Duravis R002 will simplify Bridgestone’s line-up in the versatility segment by replacing all current products.

Bridgestone helps VW to new Nürburgring electric vehicle record

Volkswagen’s first fully electric race car, the ID.R has broken the electric-powered vehicle lap record on the Nürburgring-Nordschleife, using Bridgestone Potenza tyres. The car completed the challenging 20.83km track in 6:05.336 minutes, beating the previous record by 40.56 seconds. Bridgestone custom-developed the Potenza tyres to help the ID.R navigate the demanding track in record-breaking time.

Trelleborg Wheel Systems introduces latest tyres, solutions at BAUMA

Trelleborg Wheel Systems has introduced its newest tyre range and systems to enhance productivity in critical OTR applications. The manufacturer’s EMR, Earthmover Radial Series, was displayed at BAUMA in two sizes: 29.5R25 EMR 1030 and 17.5R25 EMR 1025. The range is designed to perform and to enhance productivity in construction applications, increasing both damage protection and durability. Its multi-surface tread design provides control and perfect grip on sand, rock, gravel or soil. It joined the multipurpose bias tyre, the MPX TB construction pneumatic designed for telehandler and compact loader applications in the most demanding environments.

Magna Tyres Group: ‘world’s fastest growing OTR tyre company’

Magna Tyres Group’s Bauma 2019 exhibition was used by the Dutch company to demonstrate its fast-growing position in the OTR tyre segment. Exhibiting its products, including 18 OTR, port, industrial, and truck tyres, from a two-level stand with a 30m screen, the show was also used as the platform for the official launch of its new construction range.

Nokian Tyres: US factory launch team training in Europe

Following a month of orientation, Nokian Tyres has sent the first group of employees hired for its new factory in the USA on a six-week training experience at its facilities in Russia and Finland. The training trip’s aim is to equip members of the Dayton, Tennessee plant launch team with the skills they’ll need when beginning the production process ramp-up ahead of the start of commercial production in 2020.

£15,000 of tyres stolen from Michelin

On 23 March tyres worth £15,000 were solen from Michelin’s Stoke-on-Trent distribution centre. Police have released CCTV footage of three alleged thieves, including a clip that shows a white Iveco 7.5 tonne truck and three average build men.

Partnership to aid rollout of Black Bear carbon black recovery technology

MMEC Mannesmann GmbH (MMEC), a global leader in engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) and Black Bear, the Dutch tyre to carbon black upcycling company, today announced a strategic partnership to accelerate the rollout of Black Bear’s technology to produce recovered Carbon Black (rCB) from end-of-life tyres.

General Grabber AT3 recommended for BMW X5

The General Tire brand has been approved as original equipment (OE) fitment for the latest BMW X5, according to Continental Tyre South Africa. The manufacturer reports that the all-terrain Grabber AT3 has been recommended in size 275/45 R20 110V XL on the Bavarian automaker’s latest X range model for its optional ‘Off-Road Package’.

From highly recommended to not at all – Promobil van tyre test

It’d been a long time since a tyre test had delivered results so poor as those recently seen in a van tyre comparo jointly conducted by three European motoring associations: More than half the candidates were rated ‘not recommended’. In comparison, the seven size 235/60 R17C tyres tested by specialist campervan magazine Promobil were – mostly – considered competent products. Only one wasn’t recommended.

Investigation: India considering duties on Chinese truck tyres

Authorities in India are conducting an investigation into alleged subsidies on truck and bus tyres imported from the People’s Republic of China. According to a document released on Wednesday by the Directorate General of Trade Remedies, a department of India’s Department of Commerce, the investigation is taking place in response to a submission filed by local industry representative the Automotive Tyre Manufacturer’s Association (ATMA) on behalf of tyre makers Apollo Tyres, J. K. Tyre & Industries, MRF and Ceat. Should the allegations be verified, the department will recommend implementing countervailing duties.
