Goodyear making ‘comeback’ at Silverstone with soft, medium WEC tyres

Although active within North America, including as exclusive tyre supplier to NASCAR’s top three series, the Goodyear name has long played second fiddle in motorsport to Dunlop in other parts of the world. This will change on Sunday, with the brand’s return to global motorsport at Silverstone. Goodyear says that after 12,000 kilometres of testing at seven circuits, it is “well prepared” for its comeback.

Micheldever celebrates hat-trick of TyreSafe Awards

Micheldever Group won a trio of the annual TyreSafe Awards at this year’s event at St George’s park. Micheldever Tyre Services (MTS) won Wholesaler of the Year for the second consecutive year, while Protyre made it six-in-a-row for the Large Retailer of the Year accolade. The hat-trick was completed by MTS wholesale director Alan Baldwin, who was given the Lifetime Achievement Award ahead of his retirement from the industry later this year.

Nokian Heavy Tyres is acquiring a Finnish heavy equipment wheel company Levypyörä Oy. With its two business lines, wheels and steel structures, Levypyörä serves several original equipment manufacturers and aftermarket customers in forestry, agriculture and earthmoving applications. Annual net sales of Levypyörä are approximately 18 million euros.

Original look, new technology – Auto Bild tests tyres for older sports cars

The latest tyre test from Auto Bild Klassik sets out to determine whether “classic tyres with today’s technology can make the driving behaviour of yesterday’s sports cars even more dynamic and, most importantly, safer.” To do this, the German magazine’s test team fitted eight 185 R15 (today’s 185/80 R15) classic car tyre brands to a 1960s Austin Healy 3000.
