Michelin high-tech agricultural tyres help negotiate ‘difficult’ harvest

The performance of Michelin’s CerexBib 2 has “proven its worth” in helping York crop farmer Wharram and Kay through a difficult, rain-soaked harvest. The framer fit the VF 900/60 R38 CFO+ 193A8/B and VF 620/70 R30 CFO+ 175A8 to its New Holland CR8.90 combine following advice and support from local Michelin account manager Ian Whitwell. The wet weather has had a major impact on productivity throughout large parts of the United Kingdom.

Fowler Welch tests Bandvulc, Continental tyres at Millbrook

After years of fitting Bandvulc and Continental tyres to its fleet, leading supply chain logistics provider, Fowler Welch, has now put the two manufacturers’ low rolling resistance (LRR) offerings to the test. In a joint-trial at Millbrook Proving Ground, Fowler Welch and Bandvulc arranged an evaluation of the performance and efficiency benefits of low rolling resistance tyres, with support from Continental and its ContiPressureCheck TPMS system.

Camso has launched the Solideal PON 555 NM and PON 550 NM, two new non-marking additions to the Solideal PON series. These new and improved non-marking press-on tyres were developed to deliver increased energy efficiency and thermal performance.

92% of European end of life tyres collected and treated in 2017

92 per cent of end of life tyres (ELTs) were collected and treated for material recycling and energy recovery in 2017, according to data covering 32 European countries, consolidated by the European Tyre and Rubber Manufacturers’ Association (ETRMA). This figure shows continuity with previous years’ data, which fluctuates between 93 and 95 per cent. The remaining 8 per cent could not be tracked, ETRMA states. The figure includes data from the 28 countries in the European Union, plus Norway, Serbia, Switzerland, and Turkey.

VW ID.3 to roll on Continental tyres

Continental tyres have been chosen as original equipment for the new Volkswagen ID.3. The electric hatchback will be fitted with the EcoContact 6 in 18- and 19-inch sizes. Buyers selecting winter tyres will receive the WinterContact TS 850 P. The summer and winter tyres supplied for the ID.3 will feature ContiSeal puncture protection technology.

Massey Ferguson concept wears Trelleborg carbon-free tyres

White is the new black for Massey Ferguson and Trelleborg Wheel Systems. The tyre maker has kitted out Massey Ferguson’s MF Next Concept tractor with a special version of its Trelleborg TM1000 Progressive Traction. These concept tyres were manufactured using a white compound that contains absolutely no carbon. The TM1000 tyres are mounted on advanced extra light rims integrated with CTIS+ Inside, the central tyre inflation pressure system Trelleborg has co-developed with Dana.

Thoresby Farming fits Michelin AxioBib tyres on 500hp tractor

Thoresby Farming has more than doubled the productivity of its main cultivating tractor after upgrading to a Fendt 1050 featuring VarioGrip technology. The flagship Fendt was specified from the factory on a set of AxioBib IF 710/60 R38 and IF 900/65 R46 fitments – Michelin’s largest agricultural tyres.

New Bridgegate Tyres expands with Odyssey

Tyre retailer and autocentre New Bridgegate Tyres Ltd, which is based in Barnard Castle and Newton Aycliffe, recently opened a new depot on Tyneside to maintain its fast breakdown response times throughout the North East. To assist its aim, Odyssey, the Tees Valley-based telecommunications and technology company, installed a fully hosted telephone system at its Gateshead facility.

Unsafe tyres the top ‘dangerous’ MOT fail for motorcycles

The love and attention some motorcycle riders show their machines borders on obsessive, and this dedication to keeping bikes in top working order is reflected in MOT pass rates. Only 16.9 per cent of bikes fail their initial MOT tests, compared to 33.6 per cent of cars and 42.2 per cent of goods vehicles. But when motorcycles do fail, it’s often for problems that could have easily been rectified beforehand. Tyres are the leading ‘dangerous’ defect.
