Pirelli adding classic, scooter tyres to racing range

Pirelli is expanding its 2020 racing range with the Phantom Sportscomp RS, an 18-inch classic motorcycle competition tyre that combines the vintage Phantom Sportscomp pattern with the latest in track tyre technology. The tyre is approved for road use and aimed at riders competing in classic sprint and endurance races. A second product entering the portfolio this year is the Diablo Rosso Scooter SC, a tyre for racing scooters.

UK car drivers increasingly interested in all-season tyres

Evidence from a number of market research sources concurs – increasing numbers of motorists are choosing all-season tyres for their cars. The first indication came from GfK data, which compared the percentage growth of all-season tyre sales reported by its UK panelmarket (in terms of volume and value) in 2018 with seasonal tyre sales during 2019. Winter tyre sales volumes were down 1 per cent last year. During the same period, winter tyre values fell three times faster (down 3 per cent).

Kamaz-master wins at Dakar 2020 on standard Goodyear tyres

India considering higher duties for imported tyres

The 2020 Budget that India is scheduled to present on 1 February is expected to include changes to basic customs or import duty on more than 300 products. Tyres are one of them, and prices for tyres imported into India may soon rise dramatically. In its recommendations to the country’s Ministry of Finance, India’s Commerce and Industry Ministry has proposed increasing customs duty on pneumatic tyres, now 10-15 per cent, to 40 per cent.

RM Simpson opts for Michelin XeoBib tyres

Agricultural contractor RM Simpson is to fit Michelin XeoBib tyres across all its tractors. The Bradford farming company specified VF 710/60 R38 and VF 600/60 R28 Michelin XeoBib tyres as original equipment on its John Deere 6930 in 2009. The first set completed 9,500 hours before needing to be replaced, with the second set to last longer.

Dave Thorpe opts for ‘amazing’ Bridgestone tyres

Continental introduces 10-year warranty on agricultural tyres

Continental is now offering a warranty of up to ten years on its agricultural tyres in the EMEA region. The warranty applies to all Continental radial agriculture tyres manufactured since 1 August 2017 that bear the ‘Engineered for Efficiency’ logo and have an applicable production code.

Yokohama tyres have been fitted as original equipment on the Porsche Cayenne since the SUV was first introduced in 2002. This partnership has continued through to the third-generation Cayenne – Yokohama Rubber shares that two of its tyre models are being supplied as original equipment.

Terratoura leading new generation of Davanti tyres

Davanti reports that its strong recent growth “showed no signs of slowing in 2019” as the company launched its Terratoura all-terrain tyre. But, according to the company, Terratoura is just the first of a wave of next-generation projects the brand is working on.
