The findings are now out, and the motoring publication is very happy with more than a third of the tested candidates. First place in test was shared by two tyres.

Linglong achieves record daily tyre shipment

Linglong Tire has been working hard to make good production shortfalls resulting from the coronavirus outbreak. The tyre maker reports that it shipped a record 280,000 tyres on 29 February, with nearly 300 employees working over the weekend at several of Linglong’s sites in China to ensure as many deliveries as possible.

Protyre becomes latest Goodyear agri range distributor

Micheldever group company Protyre is once again distributing Goodyear agricultural tyres within the UK market. It will supply the Goodyear Farm Tires range from its 20 agricultural centres across the country; it already reports high levels of customer interest from Protyre outlets in areas such as Cumbria, Pembrokeshire, Derbyshire, Bristol and Essex.

Venson Automotive Solutions has published a free white paper on tyres for fleet decision-makers and company car and van drivers. The company states that “all too often price wins over vehicle use, age and mileage when it comes to buying and replacing tyres,” compared to the investment devoted to preparing vehicles for the latest connected technology.

Continental: 250,000 tyres with Cokoon produced

Cokoon is the brand name of a new bonding system technology that all tyre manufacturers and their suppliers can use as an open source solution. The development partners, tyre maker Continental and reinforcers manufacturer Kordsa, began work on this eco-friendly dip technology in 2017. Continental says it has produced quarter of a million tyres featuring Cokoon since beginning volume production last year.

US association welcomes Nokian Tyres as country’s newest tyre maker

The U.S. Tire Manufacturers Association (USTMA) shares that Nokian Tyres has signed up as its 13th member. The company, which opened its factory in Dayton, Tennessee in October 2019 and is currently preparing to start commercial production, joins an association that represents more than four-fifths of the national tyre manufacturing industry.

Trelleborg becomes Kion Group’s preferred non-marking tyre supplier

The Kion Group has chosen Trelleborg Wheel Systems as its preferred main supplier for non-marking tyres in the European market. As such, the manufacturer will fit Trelleborg non-marking resilient solid tyres as first choice on the counterbalanced forklift trucks it produces for use in indoor environments where floor care is essential.

Kumho OE on VW Polo with double A-grade ecowing tyre

Kumho’s long-standing relationship with Volkswagen has continued with the fitment of Kumho’s ecowing ES31 pattern on its 2020 Polo model. Specially tailored for the car, the 185/65R15 tyre is Kumho’s first ultra-low rolling resistance version of the ES31, with A-grade fuel efficiency and wet grip on the EU label. The 2001 Polo was Kumho’s first major European motor manufacturer OE contract.
